True pioneers..............Dave Davies is credited with creating the first guitar effects when he sliced his amplifier speaker with a razor blade so it would vibrate. VH did a great cover of this 20 years later but like most things the original and real deal is almost always better.
I don't think Dave or Ray agree with your assessment of the cover. They didn't much care for it... Speaking of The Kinks, they have a truly amazing catalog. It's hard to understand why more people do not recognize their brilliance. I rate them third behind The Beatles and Led Zeppelin as my favorite British band.
The Kinks - The Village Green Preservation Society
They flew in the face of everything that was going on in 1967 music when they released this classic. Unfortunately, here in the U.S., we could not wrap our brains around music that was so quintessentially British.
