Hi Members, :relaxed:

I was wondering in which section I can ask you about what do you think about Tesla Model X?
I was decided that this subject fit to Technology

While electric cars seem like they might curb pollution etc, that's only an appearance. In reality, the rare minerals that they require for batteries generate much more pollution and carbon emissions in mining and transportation than conventional petrol engines. In addition to these problems, I was reading today that the cobolt mined in places like Bolivia and used in electric car battery manufacture, employs children to do the mining at very low wages. Cobolt is both toxic and mildly radioactive, so the effects on the health of these miners, both adults and children, will be severe.
On the plus side though, eliminating the air pollution caused by conventional engines being replaced by electrical ones would probably increase life-expectancy by as much as ten years.

the technology behind the Model x is interesting but the cost is expensive so the affect of lack of pollution does not matter because they cost too much that not many can afford.

You're right in saying that it's too expensive for most people to afford at £90,000. The UK is banning all petrol/diesel and even hybrid vehicles from 2030. There are a few problems with that, to say the least. The electric recharging network would have to be expanded twenty fold to accommodate the number of vehicles, if everyone with a conventional vehicle were to switch to electric and at least one in three drivers couldn't afford even the cheapest electric vehicle at £24,000.

I've heard some crazy stories about some of their older models. I've heard some celebrities talk about their Teslas (not sure which models) and they seem to like them. I haven't really looked much into them or anything yet, but might see how far out of reach it would be for me to get one some day.

if you're interested in a Tesla they have a model 3 and a Model Y that are $ 40,000 dollars to 50,000 dollars and I don't know yet if they are affordable to everyone but they are close if you compare to brands like BMW. or Mercedes or Jaguar

There is a lot of new construction in my area.
Nearly all the higher end shopping plazas and malls now have electric vehicle charging stations.
A few of the newest gas stations also have electrical vehicle charging stations set off to the edge of the property.

In my town, I've noticed (in the last few years) an upsurge of golf cart style vehicles on the roads. We even have a cart rental and sales lot on the main thoroughfare.

One jet ski rental on the beach rents battery powered mini-boats.
More homeowners are opting for the newer electric lawn-mowers and the city, while clearing debris from the hurricane used battery powered saws to cut limbs (they still used gas chainsaws for the heavier stuff tho).

I've never seen a Tesla on the road near my place. I do see many Chevy Volts, Sparks, Bolts, Ford Focuses and VW e-Golfs. But then, I don't live in an affluent neighborhood. My son almost bought a Ford Focus but opted out.

I won't buy anything from that company. Pretty soon you'll have to buy a car and pay to have it work. This is the future that's being pushed. And has been for a long time now. They sell people on electric being better for the world but it does more damage by making it then an old jalopy does by running 40 years.
