I love a lot of history and culture, but somehow Turkey has never been on the menu.
I don't know why you say Constantinopolis instead of Constantinople?
I like watching things like Outlander, which has an awful lot of history in it from Scottish, French, American, English etc. etc. Vikings.
The movie "Atilla the Hun", things like that.
The series The Last Kingdom, the Tudors, White Queen and so on and so forth.
And while watching such series or movies I look up things online so I know what's historically correct.
And a number of years ago I read a book of Temujin, Genghis Khan. That was one of the best books I've ever read, and I've read a lot.
"Wolf of the Plains" it's called by Con Iggulden. Epic!
And then there's stuff like "North & South". I learnt a lot from that series, even helped me pass my exam on American culture, hahaha. I hadn't studied that part as I'd focused on the UK solely. And of course they asked bleep all about the UK, 100% questions on the US. OPEN questions. I panicked, then remember that series.
I passed the exam with an 8!! Yeehaaa!
Hi SparklingCrystal,
It is nice that you share your knowledge.
I wrote Constantinopolis instead of Constantinople, because it is Latin name.I saw the series "North & South" for the first time when I was a teenager, in Polish language, this year I was watching this series in English. I'm learning it in this way English.
When I was a teenager I was watching too history about Tsars of Russia, and history about Kings of England..but these times of history are sad and dark for me..
My congratulations on passing your pass exam on American culture. I learnt a lot too from this series.
In this series about the great Seljuq Empire and in others historical series I really like how producers pay attention to details that are reflected in the history. In this series, from the costumes, the places where and how the local residents lived, the weapons they fought with, everything is carefully selected ..
The history of Temujin, Genghis Khan,is interesting to me too.
I like the history of ancient Rome. When I was in Italy I had the opportunity to visit a museum from this ancient times, I saw, among others, coins, jewelry, dishes from that time.. I never I will never forget the view of the aqueducts..
In my last night in this ancient city in Italy, I saw amazing a fireworks show over aqueducts, it was so beautiful...
I love traveling and sightseeing, and if only I would be if only I would have the opportunity, my dream is to see the world..
