I kinda like the mandolin myself.. it's become easiest to play with my arthritis.. second would be my 1925 Stella tenor banjo.. easy to play as well.. third I guess has become my 50s stella parlor guitar in open D tuning.

But, maybe you were looking for which I prefer to hear?..

All of them, especially in a big band or orchestra.

Something to be said about a Guitar.. in most any genre of music. Of coure this is only my opinion.. shades It is an easy instrument to take along most anywhere.. camping, etc. Although a harmonica is even easier transport..

I like too many instruments and hard to choose. I had the opportunity to learn an instrument in grade school. I liked the saxophone but my hands were just too small, so I chose the clarinet. I like all the the wide ranges of tones it can do, and listen to a really good clarinet player.

I was in band in high school and it was a good group. We were kind of loud but we cheered each other on. The teacher/conductor was really good. Watch the movie "Mr Holland's Opus".

I as well. I started on trumpet in 5the grade, switched to baritone in 7th, and tuba in 11th. We had over 400 members in our marching band. Possibly the largest in country at time. Look up Overton High School Marching Band on youtube. I was in it from 78-81.

I finger pick my parlor guitar in open D.. love playing blues.

I've got about 15 different instruments laying about. Guitars, bass, mandolin, banjo, dobro, and even a ukelin... lol
