Some movies should be watched several times. Little odd things show up that you might not have caught the first time. Like, the hiding of the rock hammer in Shawshank Redemption. You see the cutout of it, in Dufresne's bible. On the page before, he starts it on the chapter named Exodus.

I've started to watch some with closed captioning. It's not so much I'm hard of hearing. Some movie audio is lousy. Some talk too fast, or a conversation gets muddy sounding because people get to talking over one another. I've found, in some, that the dialog becomes clearer once I read it.

The Out of Towners ( the original with Jack Lemmon) always cracks me up.

That's a good one! I always watch that one when it comes on.

I watch a lot of sub-titled films.
When I watch a film with subtitles in a verbal language I don't understand I watch them twice.
The first time, I intently read the subtitles, the second time, knowing what is going on in the story, I focus on the video play and effects.

Sadly, some subs are badly composed and make little sense.
I'll go back and restream the good ones to see if the subs are rewritten in that version.
One such example was the film Sputnik (Russian).
The first stream has terrible subtitles but the video of the film was amazing!
After finding a different sourced stream, the subtitles made more sense and the story actually went better with the films video portrayal.
Another was the subs to dub versions of Shin Godzilla (Japanese).
The subtitled version made little to no sense but the English dubbed version told the intended story and it made more sense and it was even interesting.

I watch, then rewatch a lot of Jhorror and Khorror. In my opinion, some of the best horror films available. I've seen some outstanding foreign science fiction films too.

One type of film I can't tolerate is subtitled films from India. Don't care for anything Bollywood. This is because there are too many familiar English words mixed with native language I don't understand. Even reading subs or CC I am left confused. I'm sure there are many very good India films. I can't tell because I focus on the mixed signals I get.

There are some films I won't watch in closed caption.
I know Avatar (extended version) by heart. If I watch it with CC, the CC actually distracts me from the film itself. Aliens (extended version) is another. Yet Terminator with CC doesn't bother me.

Sometimes I enable CC but turn the sound of the film to mute. I sometimes play movies with the sound off while listening to music playlists. When I have family over for a get together, I will play movies with CC on mute while playing music so anyone who wants to pay attention to the movie can.
Sometimes I also play multiple movies on screen at the same time on mute.
Allowing anyone to focus on the film they want to pay attention to. Sometimes with cc on and sometimes not. Sometimes paused and sometimes not.
