actually i think the random shootings have never really subsided it's just that now its a convenient time to post them....crisis at border and fewer people are buying into covid pandemic...so bring out the shootings to give them a break from looking at the current failing administration...just one of the bonuses from living in a war driven society with war video games and movies aplenty...

the big people go to war for money and fun of course they are not in the ****...monkey see monkey do....i lived in canada 9 years, no random shootings even though per capita they probably had more guns due to good hunting...

This was absolutely horrific, it should never happen anywhere.

What I don't understand is why the shooter, Ahmad Al-Issa, who WAS identified the scene as the SHOOTER by the police, WAS shot by the police, is being called a "suspect" in the articles I've read.

When used as a noun the definition of suspect is "a person thought to be guilty of a crime or offense".....how is Al-Issa "thought to be guilty" when he was shot and arrested during the commission of a crime?

This guy isn't a suspect, he is a heartless murderer.....full stop.

I think you Americans need real gun control laws/regulations in every state. The "live free or die" ideology was great back about 2 hundred years ago. There's a reason why gun crimes per capita are low in Canada & the UK, it's called GUN CONTROL! ... just sayin'

I’m glad Canada has low numbers of gun violence. But I’m glad that I, being a law abiding citizen am able to buy as many guns as I want. And I also glad that I can carry a gun , concealed or not. Thanks to the second amendment. None of my guns have ever got mad and shot someone. Guns don’t kill, people kill with guns or knives or rocks, that’s what Cain used to kill Able. Maybe we should have more rock control.

This is so horrific, I can’t even begin to imagine how devestating this is for
the families. I heard that the police officer killed had 7 children. As a gun owner,
I had no problems whatsoever going through handgun training and background
check, 7 day waiting period, etc. I don’t understand why this is an issue.

Colorado had an assault weapon ban since 2018, but a judged overturned it
10 days before this recent shooting. The shooter bought the gun 6 days
before the shooting. It’s possible this never would have happened.

My brother lives not very far from there. Apparently, he and his wife missed going to that store by several minutes.

Define "assault weapon" sorry to burst your bubble but there can be no such thing since assault is a verb not an adjective.

The shooter was a rabid anti-Trumper and another left wing nut like 99.999% of the mass shooters have been.

The weapon had nothing to do with anything EXCEPT Piglosi and Feinstein are trying to ram thru an "assault weapons" ban and conveniently a leftie nut job committed a mass assault. Funny how that happens every time.

Of course the largest amount of people shot dead by a mass shooter was in Texas in the 70's when a lone gunman with a 4 round bolt action Remington rifle shot over 30 from the bell tower at the university.

Facts really suck don't they and no if you are for bans, waiting periods, universal background checks and all the other leftie wing tripe you are NOT a gun owner but a troll shill.

Define "assault weapon"

Well, if'n ya think about it, assault is an action & weapon is a thing.
So it means action of a thing.

Assault weapon would be 'any' weapon used in an assault.

In security forces, assault weapon is a generalization referring to automatic weapons and the style of weapons with a quick conversion to automatic fire mode.

Many people associate 'assault' weapon and 'machine' gun to 'automatic' weapons.

All 'guns' are machine guns. 'Machine' as in moving mechanical parts to create work.

Most people talk using accepted words and phrases.
You talk/text on your 'phone'. You don't say 'portable cellular wireless telephone internet device'.

Personally, I'm against governmental gun control. I believe citizens should continue to have the right to bear arms. Perhaps if they did, our government wouldn't be in the shape its in now.

But, I don't need to attack nomenclature to put my point across.
My Constitution and Bill of Rights already did that for me.

Firearms are inanimate objects,
with more than 20,000 laws on the
books to control them in the U.S..

What we need, is better liberal control.
If liberals were forbidden to own or possess
firearms, crimes with guns, would drop by 96%

Banning ‘assault weapons’ won’t stop these attacks. If someone is hell bent on shooting innocent bystanders they will use whatever weapon is available. To think if these weapons are banned than these attacks will stop is just plain naive. I don’t think we have heard about this guys background. He may have been able to own a gun.
