Define "assault weapon"
Well, if'n ya think about it, assault is an action & weapon is a thing.
So it means action of a thing.
Assault weapon would be 'any' weapon used in an assault.
In security forces, assault weapon is a generalization referring to automatic weapons and the style of weapons with a quick conversion to automatic fire mode.
Many people associate 'assault' weapon and 'machine' gun to 'automatic' weapons.
All 'guns' are machine guns. 'Machine' as in moving mechanical parts to create work.
Most people talk using accepted words and phrases.
You talk/text on your 'phone'. You don't say 'portable cellular wireless telephone internet device'.
Personally, I'm against governmental gun control. I believe citizens should continue to have the right to bear arms. Perhaps if they did, our government wouldn't be in the shape its in now.
But, I don't need to attack nomenclature to put my point across.
My Constitution and Bill of Rights already did that for me.
