In the olden days newspaper was much softer than today’s. Let’s petition the newspaper to change back!:grinning:

When I was a kid, and growing up in a small town close to a city, I wanted nothing more than to get out. Now I want nothing more than a small plot of land, horses/cows/pigs/chickens/ducks/geese. I grew up around/on farms so nothing really shocks me in how our food gets to the table. Personally, I think everyone should have to clean an animal they intend on butchering/eating at least once. We're so disconnected from the process, with nicely packaged product in grocery stores, that we've lost touch with how important the entire process is.

Would could and have

The way things are going we may not have a choice but to do so again. Those who laugh at the one's who do will need some help.

i have a patch of land 7 hours away from the city im working in.This pandemic i chose to stay in the farm near my Parents, and ive enjoyed free range chicken, goat ,fish ,corn ,fruits and veggies.I escape the city every weekend,(if only im not working in the city,i should have avoided Delta.)
so i have enjoyed farm and city life at the same time.Growing leafy veg and bringing it with me to the city everytime i harvest,i was even able to share to neighbors.

I would like to live the old ways. it's quite difficult to do on my own though. when young we moved to the big city, at age 18, if I had the insights I now posses , I'd be living in my garden eden. Hey Eve, contact me so we can get this done or just give me my rib back.

I like the idea of living a somewhat sufficient life. Starting to grow my own food. My ideal would be living in a cottage out in country with a few acres. Live away from all the madness in the world.

Problem is there aren't any bi people with my views. I'm not interested in LGBT culture, in fact I'd rather just be straight. Yet I'm interested in a woman living this lifestyle with me.

Many people think survival and 'raw' living are extreme measures requiring major lifestyle changes.
Nothing could be further from reality.

Even in an apartment in the city you can enjoy small harvests with a window garden. There are many products on the market to allow you to do this and the details of how to do it are readily available online with many endeavors supoorted with video.

In my opinion, the most important survival tool is your own mind. If you understand the world around you (the physical reality of the stuff you have in your life) you can optimize your survival without buying a bunch of specific things.

This makes survival possible no matter where you are or what is near you.

Also within your mind, the right mindset is key to your survival. This means you stop and think before you do something. Panic and fear can cause you to make decisions which could hamper your chances and even kill you.

In survival mode many times, you won't have the luxury of personal preferences and comfort. You have to be able to think strait so you don't do something which makes your situation worse.

It doesn't matter if it is a natural disaster with long duration power of clean water loss or stranded on a dark lonely highway. Ya gotta keep your head about you. If children or others are with you, you also gotta look out for the ones you love. Sometimes, you don't have the luxury of someone else's help.

I see this during hurricanes where I live right now. Part of the 'smart' choices is to actually flee before the storm hits but many don't.

You also need to be aware much media (TV shows, movies and videos) will tell you things about survival which do not actually work.

Just the other day I watched a movie which showed people drinking from the windshield washertank on their car. Winshield washing fluid is NOT water. It a chemical compound which will make you sick.
If the water stinks, don't drink it.
