Flying Cars??? I don't think so. Most people can't even handle riding a Bike, Operating a Motorcycle let alone Driving. They go Completely Mentally Dead when they get behind a wheel. Now throw in them Flaying???

The "car" will fly its self. It's more of a drone then a car, and it will be able to sense other objects and use GPS to navigate. The benefit would be by using different heights you can fit more vehicles in the same space. The Jetsons seemed to do OK with them, but there is still a lot of technology needed to make them affordable and reliable. I have seen a few projects they are working on and some seem more practical then others.

The Moller Skycar looks very similar to designs at
UC Davis (I think).
circa late 80s / early 90s.

they just tested a flying car in eastern Europe. it flew landed and changed over to car . technology and folding wings are too complex so they are too expensive over 200,000 dollars. plus not sure having unlicensed pilots flying around will happen soon. because airplanes still can't be completely autonomous flying is too complex. it is cool to see technology

If it flies there is no need for it to be a car. It can take off and land anywhere. Yes, it's just a helicopter! And if they can make self driving cars they certainly can make self flying crafts that know where and how to take off and land and not crash into anything. And $200,000 is not that outrageous of a price when you can easily spend $80k+ on a car or truck nowadays. It will take awhile for the demand and price to balance out and I certainly would not trust flying around in a $30k aircraft that was out of my control.

Lot's of people already can't drive the car on road properly, then what of flying one.. :grin:

they have been experimenting with V-tol vehicles since the late 50's. while the concept is cool (who dont want to be george jetson) I dont see it getting to the point of being a daily event. beyond what the gyro-coptor and ultra lite is today..

the technology is around for flying cars or vtol. the biggest problem with is the cost of the aircraft and complex nature. our cars are not perfect but if you have a problem you can pull off the road. in a aircraft we can't do anything like that at say 500 or 1000 ft. so safely has to be there before we ever get into a drone and fly to work.

LOL people are getting into drones now on the ground. along with driver assist vehicles, hands free vehicles are coming onto the market.

the only real concept is the Terrfuga
saw it on YouTube it flew well. it Isn't really there yet is in certification so the have months or years until it goes into production. it is a plane with folding wings so just a plane to drive around.
