You are the Dr. shouldn't we be asking you that? A depression in the ground is a situation. Being depressed in you life is a disorder. It's like it sounds "disorder" meaning something is not in the order it should be.

I'll go with @dust4fun on this. @Dr. You should be the right person to define, clarify and state your scientific opinion.

USUALLY ITS CAUSED BY A PERSON NOT GETTING THERE NEEDS MET.....EVERY PERSON IS

BORN WITH A NATURAL CHILD INSIDE HIM....HE IS OPEN VULNERABLE, ALWAYS TRYING

NEW STUFF, TRUSTFUL, SPONTANEOUS FEELINGS AND BEHAVIOR, AND BELIEVES IN MAGIC.

THE NATURAL CHILD IN US IS ALSO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF US..........

WHAT I DO FOR MYSELF IS,,,,WHEN I FEEL MY EMOTIONAL ENERGY LEVEL GET LOW I

WILL DO SOMETHING TO BRING JOY TO MY NATURAL CHILD......WORKS EVERY TIME.....

P.S. I MAY BE DIFFICULT AT FIRST BECAUSE FOR MOST OF US THE NATURAL CHILD IN

US WAS WOUNDED BY OUR CARETAKERS TO DIFFERENT DEGREE'S....

The Good Doctor knows that all subsets of Depression, inclusive of Situational Depression, are all covered in the DSMMD....He IS likely simply curious of the Laymens' understanding thereof.

Sadly, few people know, especially mental health are providers, that the chief underlying etiology of depression is trashed bowel normal flora.....which has taken a beating for generations since widespread antibiotic overuse in all of Western Civilization.

The normal flora in the bowel is responsible for over 70% of melatonin production, a necessary brain neurotransmitter precursor. NOW YOU KNOW!

i want to reply this with my background story, initially i had panic or anxiety attacks once a year or twice a year. and then with time i got more frequent anxiety issues. i remember sometimes i had only some bad days but then it converted into months of depression, now for almost whole month i don't feel like to take shower, or go out to meet anyone. so in start it was situation for me now it become disorder.
