The link doesn't work Crystal. I tried posting the link I found on FB, but it didn't work either.
This law is already in effect in several other States. So it's not an entirely new law that is being introduced which will set the precedent for other States to do the same. They are already doing it. Actually, there are very few States that don't have this law. In order to practice Reiki or other energy healing methods, you are required to get a massage therapy license or be a registered nurse in that State, especially when practicing for money.
I was going to do start a Reiki practice in Florida, as well as other things, but found out I can't.. Florida classifies Reiki as a form of massage, therefore you have to be licensed.
The petition touches on a good point. The primary reason for this law being put into effect is to stop human trafficking. That's a completely flawed approach to stopping crime. Criminals are capable of becoming licensed. Why not shut down all laundromats as well, they too are often used as fronts for criminal behavior!
I will look more into it later today, thanks Crystal for sharing this info with us.
Surprised you feel that way to be honest.
I don't know what 'getting licensed' means in the US really. Over here when you become a member of a professional organisation in the branch your clients will get insurance coverage. You have to pay for that membership each year, and it isn't cheap. But it guarantees the quality of the therapists and the profession, and I believe it also gives therapists legal help if a client is complaining.
So if you're a charlatan, you don't have any qualifications of the study either, and you cannot become a member of such an organisation.
But... NOT all who aren't a member are charlatans. Not over here anyways.
And getting a license... who decides whether you get that?
Over here it works as described above, but even professions like osteopathy are not officially recognised as a medical profession. So when we had lockdown they had to shut down shop.
It has been the same with physiotherapy for years, they had to fight real hard to get the label "medical profession" so during lockdown they could continue working.
Insanity...
Thousands of people were duped, including me.
And this label is not something you can just get by doing a test or something. They're fully qualified. It is decided by Big Pharma so at a high level. And Big Pharma wants to push out all therapies and healing methods that are helping millions worldwide, but they don't make a buck of it.
We've worked so hard to get the healing knowledge & wisdom from the ancients back, that was oftentimes way better than 'modern' Western medical stuff. If we're not careful and don't act we WILL lose that again.
Fact is, we need both. Most chronic issues benefit -or can be healed even- with the alternative. For acute stuff like a broken leg or heart attack we need Western science. It should go hand in hand.
And the only reason this isn't happening is because of Big Pharma.
Anyway, everyone has to make their own decisions. I'm all for maintaining both, and working towards having them cooperate. At this rate we're moving away from that. Back to how it was in the early-mid 20th century when "modern" doctors almost electrocuted mental health patients in the dungeons of an asylum, just because they could and thought they were smart. (some ppl DID get electrocuted btw because they pushed it too far).
And not saying that practice will come back, but the attitude behind it, "We are all-knowing and all-powerful." I find that very scary.
