A friend of mine deactivated/deleted his account at least a year ago, but his user name brings up his forum post from a Google search.

Clicking on his username in the post takes anyone without an account straight to his old profile, but I can't find him with any search.

Is this a privacy breach? Can I please ask how he can have that forum post removed as none of his email accounts are now linked to that profile, it's a mystery.

Thank you

If someone has posted in the forums and then deactivated only the profile gets deactivated but their posts remain.

The forums would make no sense if every time a member deactivates and their forum posts go with them as there would be no threads left.

Only if the post violates Forum Rules would it be removed.

Hi Di

Thanks for this. Should the link to the profile via the username be enabled though? Defeats the purpose of consealing ones identity in the future (without realising the identifying data should have been removed first).

My friend is desperate for the forum post to be removed (no replies to it) as it is massively incriminating and given I found it just be putting his username into a Google search, his ex-wife could potentially find it also and file a lawsuit. Bit messy.

Can I please ask how he can go about deleting this post as he can't reset his password to do so?

Many thanks

Due to the fact the Account you are requesting to be deactivated is not your account it will remain.. Only the person that has that account can contact Support in order for them to get the email account they used in order sign into the account and Deactivate it themselves..

As far as the thread we do not delete old threads just because a member does not want them on the forums..
