I really like movies. Not just watching them but also how they are made. I 'belong' to many movie fandom sites.
I also like monsters, creatures and alien creatures. I like studying the designs the creators dream up. The weirder the better. I 'belong' to a few monster & creature fandom sites too.
I basically like anything having to do with Speculative Fiction. It doesn't matter if its literature, film, audio or visual. I 'belong' to many Speculative Fiction sites as well.
Back when I was physically able, I attended conventions, presentations, book signings, art galleries and a slew of movie theaters.
I've met some people who range from specific fandom for a certain subject to over-all fans of anything speculative. I've even attended scientific theory lectures. I met with Leonard Nimoy after a lecture (kids group) at the local college when I was 15. Very smart and very likeable kinda guy.
I possess a creative imagination. I enjoy writing flash fiction and my work can be found on various websites but nothing recent.
I've studied fiction writing and attended a few creative writing workshops over my years.
Lately, I've been building the outline for a novel but since that process keeps getting interrupted, its not moving along very fast.
People who meet me in real life enjoy listening to me talk about my passions. My gf would rather listen to me ad-lib a story than watch a movie.
Of all the movie making techniques my favorite has to be Matte Painting Composites. Its when a matte painter takes a real photo and removes parts of it and paints into the photo a new focus. Then, small video segments of movement are overlaid to make the scene appear real and current.
I also like minature work. A raw example would be the minature cities in old Godzilla movies but miniatures are used a lot in current movies as well.
Then there is the make-up, masking and puppeting which brings monsters and creatures to life.
