Yes, I have heard that it is difficult to adjust to retirement.
Mark and I are good. As of yesterday Kazakhstan has finally lightened up on allowing foreigners into the country. So Mark is planning to visit me here next month.
However, we will be doing long-distance for even longer. Our plans to shack up in June are not working out as planned. It's a lot of work to move to a different country and even more work to move back! And when you're a teacher, you are very limited by the school year. It's a lot of work to get a teacher's license in a new state. You have to take several big tests (five for me) and they have to be done in person. Lots of snags or things I need to get done and I'm not there in the country to do things I need to do. Just not enough time. So I'm taking another international contract. I'm moving to South Korea in early August. It's going to be hard, we'll be even further apart than we are now. But at least we do have the ability to travel, which is a blessing. I have 7 weeks off this summer and Mark and I plan to make the most of them.
