Quite often I think we all need to go through hard times to be able to focus on what's real. Some people and their family seem to handle prosperity and disposable income well but so many just turn into whiny weak trash living in a fantasy. We may be on the verge of a change that will be painful but maybe nesessary. Thoughts ?

Agree 100%. When I think about the whiny millenials and younger of our country being in charge in the future, I'm glad I will be long gone.

It's scary to think about how weak and protected this group of young "men" and women are. No way they will be able to handle the future after growing up with their safe spaces, victim mentality, and always being offended by anything and everything. Scary times ahead

As one generation grows older it always seems one of the first things they do is to generalize the upcoming generation as shiftless, lazy, soft, and having many other faults. My parents did the same. We turned out okay. The world didn't come to an end. It's the older generations that bring us to the brink, ie wars, over population, ecological disasters, etc.

It can’t get much worse, short of nuclear war, than it is now and our leaders are old as dirt. I expect what we see on tv is just a small percentage of our youth acting like spoiled brats. I’m willing to bet most are intelligent, down to earth, family oriented young men and women. Lord knows they could do no worse than the imbeciles currently in the White House.

This!! Totally agree with this. Every somewhat older generation tends to whinge about -and judge- the younger generation(s).
I find that attitude rather tiring and narrow-minded.

I'd like to know what you mean by "weak", "trash", and "fantasy".
You sound very judgemental and throw vague statements around, but not clear to me what you're actually talking about. Can you be concrete?

There are some that have put together their priorities together, and are doing what they have to. We never hear about them, it's the whiney ones we hear about.

Throwing a blanket over the whole lot and pointing fingers at their age, doesn't do the hard working ones any justice.

Much in the same way that lefty dems claim we're all racist, because we're white. I got called racist because I hated obammy's politics. That he was black had nothing to do with my opinions of his policies.

Vague, yes, helps to bring debate. Judgemental, hell yes, even with my limited knowledge I still know right and wrong. As for what you want to know I will only offer on the fantasy subject for now, and that is not real especially for the common man where I am

People who ACTUALLY handle prosperity well are PREPARED when there is a bump in the economy. The problem is that TOO MANY people don't learn from the past and plan for the future. I figured out I needed to learn from the past, plan for the future and live for today a long time ago so I haven't suffered during the same "hard times" others faced.

Pain ISN'T necessary for change to occur, the mindset in regards to finances by many people who keep going through the same pain time and time again is what needs to change.

You mean ok, as in nobody has any common sense anymore? You mean ok as in feelings are paramount and matter more than facts? You mean ok as in the up coming generation can't or is way harder to own home - that is when they decide to leave at 30? Do you mean ok as in get rid of the church, so there's a reliance on government? Or do you mean the general lack of disrespect for what older generations fought and bled for?

While I agree that older generations are crusty about the younger ones. I still appreciate (some) of now a day music. The west is far from better. I noticed that you poo pooed what the older generations did (which is elementary and what I don't necessarily agree with) but you certainly didn't provide any examples of what they've done that shines.

I remember my parents talking about the 1970s and having to wait in long lines to buy gasoline. Some days you were only allowed to buy gas on alternate days (based on whether the last digit of your license plate number was an odd or even number).
