In astrology you have your Ascendant or Rising sign, the Descendant is directly opposite that in your chart. In other words: 6 signs from your Ascendant.

Your Descendant is what you're best match in partner would be like. There's more to it, but I'm limiting it to this here.
So someone who has the qualities & traits of your Descendant would be an ideal fit for you, a good complement. That does NOT mean your ideal partner is of that sunsign. It is about the quality of that sign.

For me it is spot on!

In essence it'd be best to have a partner with your Descendant for his/her Ascendant.

I found out yesterday, I had not heard of it before either. But that makes sense as over the years I've done a deep-dive into astrology but not a deep-deep-dive, haha.

Yesterday I read about my sunsign in its house. Holy cow, that explained a lot! For the first time in some 36 yrs I can now say, yes, I AM a real Taurus!
The default descriptions never fit me, but the info on that site was astounding, and combining it with the House it is in, wonderful!

Hi Crystal... The link you provided said my descendant is Libra, with my ascendant being Aries.

However, my birth chart has my ascendant in Pisces, and my descendant in Virgo.

The birth chart calculator has you include where you were born. So I'm wondering if that is why the discrepancy?

In assuming that my birth chart is more accurate, my ideal partner will have the qualities of Virgo.

I don't know... Did you enter the time of birth? Sometimes there's a slight discrepancy when yours is on the brink of jumping to another sign. Some sites don't properly calculate summer & winter time.
You can try another site and see what that comes up with.
That can make a difference if let's say you're born at 5AM and it shifts into another sign at 5.30AM.
I've had that happen, although not often, with a site that didn't calculate summer /winter time for you.

And maybe it is indeed the addition of place of birth. Not sure if that matters (much) for this aspect.

I'd go for what your chart says btw. I also had a chart drawn long time ago by a friend. I always stick to that too as so far it's always been accurate.

River... if you want you can get your full natal chart here for free. No need to read anything, just fill out the date, time, place of birth, scroll down to the tables with your data.
You will see "ASC" and then you know which one is right for sure.
This one adjusts for summer/winter time.

So a partner with Virgo qualities would be a good match for you according to this.

For me it's Sagittarius, Rising in Gemini. And the qualities of Sag is spot on for me to have in a partner, also what I am hoping to find, so couldn't be more accurate!

I've had a 3 year relationship with a Sag when I was 17. In many ways this was the best I've ever had. Not in all ways. But his typical Sag nature meant he didn't bat an eyelid about anything I suggested we do, no matter how odd others may have found it. His reaction was always enthusiastic, "Let's go for it! Let's find out if it's true or not!"

That sense of adventure, exploring, freedom etc. is exactly what I like, hihi.
