Just for the fun of it...
Always seems it's either-or, but maybe you are and-and:

Are you a Trekkie, into Star Trek, OR are you a die-hard Star Wars follower?

OT - Myself, I'm a Trekkie, but I don't watch everything Star Trek that comes out.

Star Wars isn't for me. I tried 1 movie to please my then-partner. I almost dozed off and all I was doing was watch the clock to see if the ordeal was about to be over.
In the end I couldn't bear it anymore and I just told him and left to do something else

Neither...

I will watch the show/movies but not a die-hard for either one.

I'm a trekkie, never liked star wars because it's basically a fairy tale in space with a lot of flash - bang. Star Trek has a good story line
of the potential future of humans, and is based on theoretical science.

Neither.

But, I was an avid fan of an animated
series called Captain Simian and The Space Monkeys.

I will, however, be checking out TNG's
animated spin offs... Ie; Lower Decks,
and the other ones.

Not super into either, but if I had to choose one, it would be Star Trek. I went to a Trekkie convention once, with a friend. It was pretty fun. I got the autographs of James Doohan (Scotty) and Nichelle Nicoles (Lt. Uhura). It's fun to see how geeked out superfans can get.

A little of both, but not fanatically.

That said, Star Wars is far more vast than just the movies allude to.

The lore spans thousands of years, numerous iterations of evil (Sith) Empires, with Palpatine coming back to life under different names.

And, yeah, the movies made it seem like "space fairy tales", Mark Hammel gave Skywalker a silly, naΓ―ve feel.

I went to the original movie at a theater with several pot head friends, since you could smoke in the theaters back then, we smoked more than cigarettes. I lost interest pretty quickly, so I threw popcorn at girls, imagine that !
After your post, and if none fairytale, I may have been able to view later movies and seen the thousands of years analogy.

Trek resonates more with me, but I like elements of both.

Star Trek usually have better written science fiction stories. Many are taken from concepts explored by master authors. Plus, overall you get to see more aliens and alien cultures even tho most are just bumpy heads.

Star Wars has a fantasy based story arc. What I like about Lucas' creation is the fact the technology allows for massive power generation.
This allows huge ships and mega constructs.
Plus, the aliens and alien cultures are a bit more exotic and unique, Fewer bumpy heads.

I refrain from commenting on specific aspects of the stories and lead characters because that can get pretty involved.
The Star Wars books I've read are actually better than the Star Trek ones I've read.

The Star Trek Movies are much more limited than the Star Wars movies. Star Trek is strongest in the television arena.

The Star Trek ships diversity of all the races is much wider ranging than Star Wars. The actual LCARS database is very large.

All in all tho, I find both are limited in their respective genres compared to other science fiction and fantasy universes.

ThatΒ΄s exactly what I love about Star Trek as well!
I see the way they function & think as how we will be in the not too distant future.
When talking about that I call it the "Star Trek concept" as it then is easier to understand for many.

Star Trek for sure. I'm binge watching Star Trek Discovery right now, just about done with the last season.

I only liked the first three Star Wars movies... Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. I lost interest quickly with the later ones that came out.

I'm general Sci Fi if it involves space/ fighters/warfair, I'm in it.
not a fan of what disney is doing to either star trek or star wars.
but star trek does not have an established story line. it jumps all over the place.

while star wars was under lucas, everything produced generally fit together to tell the story past/present/ future. ad I really liked that about the star wars universe.

but, disney turned that time line on it's head and changed the plot.
after last jedi trilogy, they tried to repair the damage.
but it was so bad, I have a hard time caring.

trek did the same thing with it's alternate universe (Kelvin time line) but it has gone into the multiverse before. so it's an easier adjustment.
I had the same issues with the battle star galactica relaunch..

guess I would be more incined to fallow trek. but not like I did with next gen -voyager

I love sci-fi and most the films I enjoyed most were sci-fi...

I like star trek, but not the later ones, I like the new star trek with kirk, scotty spock but as young guns :joy:

I absolutely adored disney's The Black Hole (think that's what it was called)

And some others were, Sunshine, Avatar, Chronicles of Riddick, Pitch Black gosh there's so many...

Valerian and the city of a thousand planets, AI, Galaxy quest, that one with the fox and tree being (groot) :joy: sorry I cant remember the name

Not really into either, but I'd probably choose Star Trek. I actually went with a friend to a Trekkie convention in Vegas once when I was in high school, and we met Nichelle Nichols (Urura) and James Doohan (Scotty). It was pretty fun. Everyone was wearing their Star Trek shirts and Spock ears.

I’ve never watched Star Wars besides the clips you see on TV, and seen very little of the recent Star Trek.
Is it amazing or scary to think these kinds of advancements are just around the corner.

I prefer Star Wars, I grew up with it...well, the older films anyway!

I've got into Star Trek more recently, they are both pretty good for a Sci-Fi geek such as myself .:grimacing::joy::vulcan:
