Medicinal Lie

My veins
cry
from the burning
torment
of the medicinal lie
that ravages the emptiness
of my soul

I pretend
it’s an elixir
healing me
as I escape gravity
while still grounded
within the nothingness
that led me
down this road

Lost
within
a lost journey
begging for someone
to help me
walk
the twelve steps back
to where I first started
so that I have the courage
to say no
