I mean even if they are still alive according to the regular banging sounds picked up by the sonars… Do the five men abroad have any chance of getting rescued since they might be in a depth where even US nuclear submarines can’t reach?

Even if they are already spotted or located. If the submersible is stuck, I don’t see how it can be freed and brought up to surface in less than 20 hours (the time left until oxygen supplies are exhausted)
Would authorities even declare finding them if they know they can’t rescue them in time?

They probably will if they find them. I remember when the nuke sub Threasher went down in the sixties, crushed like a coke can when they found it.
It was all over the TV, with photos.

cyrax You of all people should know there is hope till there is no hope in my profession holding onto hope , no matter how small , while preparing for the worst is an important coping mechanism during times of devastation and distress .

The latest US Coastguard update states it is still 100% a search and rescue mission Obviously the search area is not just immense but technically challenging , and includes aerial search and subsurface search at depths of intense pressure , severe currents , freezing temperatures and a darker than dark environment. At this stage it is still not clear where Titan is .. ? on the surface .. carried away by water channels , stuck on the seabed , tangled within the titanic wreck or worse case scenarios down deeper below the continental shelf , or the possibility of implosion . Although they have estimates on remaining breathable air .. they are just estimates . there are still too many unknowns to give up hope .

What we do know .. the titanic wreck sits at approx 3500 metres subsurface . When Titan went missing it is thought the Titanic wreck site was within reach based on previous dive time estimates .

Until recently the search has been hampered by the ability to search the titanic site . They now have The French ROV robot capable of searching to depths of 6000 meters …just one of many international assets deployed to assist the search . A UK team have technology which can search to 8,000meters . Side sonar technology is now on site and sweeping the seabed floor . Ships on the surface continue to drop sonar buoys and search for Titan’s location . Continuous aerial searches are still being conducted in the hope Titan is on the surface .

Although underwater noise has been detected .. it has not been verified that the noises heard are manmade and although they have not yet located the source , they continue to focus search efforts in that direction .

I am in absolute awe of the international search and rescue mission that is unfolding . My hope is Titan and her crew will be located and brought home .

The contrast between the frantic hunt for a missing submersible and the failure to save migrants drowning in the Mediterranean is illuminating.

only enough breathable oxygen to last into
yesterday evening.

It is highly unlikely there would be survivors
at this point.

The thing is run off from an x-box controller, heard the lights were from camping world. Don't know about you, but I think I would do a little more quality control before going down in something like that. It reminds me of the subs they build in the jungle down in Colombia to run cocaine to the US. They build them out of wood and fiberglass to avoid radar, they have to surface every so often to get air. They got away with running a lot of cocaine before somebody finally snitched. The cartel would force people to drive the submarines, saying no was instant death so people had to chance it. Think they found one on the surface not all that long ago with the people inside dead. It's a very interesting story for those who want to look into it.

It's nice to be optimistic Blondey. And we all keep up hope. But as you know, the sea can be a very unforgiving place. And at those depths even more so.

The world (The Western World if you will) has done so much for the migrants. More than you imagine. I am one of these migrants and I know exactly what I am talking about.
It's just a matter of getting used to something, and it's a human nature. The migrants/ refugees crisis has been ongoing since tens of years and has gotten intensified since 2015. We are talking about almost ten years of continuous crisis that people at the end got used to.
Believe me, if we had continuous "Titan" incidents for only two years, people would lose interest and just continue their lives.

Sadly, Oceangate, and it's now deceased CEO,
were in such a hurry to turn profits with the
carbon fiber vessel, that it was doomed to fail.


There are media reports of an employee/former
employee, that the CEO berated, threatened,
and ultimately terminated said employee for
being unwilling to sign off on the "safety"
of the Titan submersible.


Loss of life, and way too many questions left,
that may never be answered.

When shortcuts are taken and small problems are overlooked, accidents happen. I remember when the space shuttle Challenger exploded just minutes into their mission. Sometimes the excitement and anticipation to go forward with a challenge can lead to the shortcuts . It’s human nature sometimes to go against better judgement to accomplish big things. At least these five were doing what they loved doing at the time of their death and they probably never felt any pain. May they Rest In Peace…
