Everyone knows that Nobody is perfect...

And everyone knows that relationships mean having compromises, where we give and take equally in the relationship...

So why not try meeting someone who's half serious?

Surely that would get you more dates, and more chances of finding someone close to your hearts desire?

What's the point of having a strict checklist if no one can tick all the boxes?

Keep in mind that there's...
1) Always a "right time" to be serious...
2) Never a wrong time to be not serious and have a laugh :joy:

So many questions and so little cake :cake: :joy:

I have a strict, interchangeable on a moment's notice list.

The point?
To get out of having to actually date. :joy:

It can be fun sometimes, learning about new (maybe) friends...

Finding out your common likes and dislikes..

If the date turns sour either party can leave, especially if the op doesnt match with who you hoped to meet...

Hahaha Robin :joy:

One must ask oneself, is the glass half full or half empty

I guess what I was trying to say was that if we bring our requirements of our perfect partners down a little bit like maybe 5-10% maybe there's more chance of finding mr/miss nearly right...

And I'll volunteer free of charge to take the other person to electrical shock therapy :joy:

I try to avoid the checklist thing. Unless it's for food shopping.

Don't make a check list but I do have Priorities when meeting a man in person.

I've got experience in online dating so I'm not easily fooled.

I'm a very serious person.

Hello everyone. I am new to this dating site thing, and it will most likely show as I continue. All I've read have been valid points in my opinion, but that must be for a generation much younger than mine. I would have imagined that you all have heard the line, " Back in the day....." etc. etc. I'm just here to try and understand this thing about a check list I keep hearing of. Is it now the norm that we are so self-centered that to continue existing our companion must be an item from the top shelf in a department store? Unfortunately, there are days, no moments when my thoughts entertain such a notion of a list. And it seems that the old school way of doing things has gone by the wayside. I guess I was lucky, 49 years with a woman who was my friend, my lover and my wife and so much more, were always able to work thing out and then there was no such thing as a check list for compatibility. sad2

I mostly agree, but I disagree that there's never a wrong time to not be serious and have a laugh. I love a great sense of humor, but if I'm hurting I do not want someone cracking a joke.

Good morning ShyClassyLady,

Yeahhh I guess checklist was a bad word, I don't have a checklist either, but I guess everyone knows what I mean...

Our priorities or requirements or values that we think are ideal to have in a prospective soul mate..

Hi ToodyGirl5,

It's good that you have online experience and no one can pull the wool over your eyes...

Do you think though, if you were only half very serious, that maybe it would/could bring you closer to your goal of finding a partner (if that's what you're looking for)?

Hiya Raybel,

Hmmmm I guess that using the word checklist was poor judgement on my part..

I didn't mean like a written checklist, I meant that list of requirements that everyone has in their own mind/head of what constitutes a ideal partner for said person...

I think that the old school way is still the best way to meet people, but we move with the times, and take advantage of whatever tools are at our disposal...

Hiya DramaticMuffin,

Yes okay point taken...

Obviously trying to be funny at a funeral or in any situation where someone is going through a difficult time would be a definite no no...
