I'm a big fan of endearment terms regarding friendly connection, lust, and indeed love. Please just don't use baby talk unless "close to infant" animals are around.

It's ridiculous and sounds juvenile. Unless one is actually a princess like Princess Di, Ann, Margaret Kate calling someone that is not sounds silly.
