So things have changed then? Whenever I asked to be deleted in the past all I got was its only possible to deactivate me.

Well for what it's worth, deletion means according to Mingle2, that one won't be able to retrieve one's own data or account. This may or may not imply that such data were removed from Mingle2 storage system. In case of a deleted account, it's possible to create a new one using the same old email address.
