Yes and no. Agreed, there are many important considerations other than age. That said, age brings life experience and if the life experiences differ too much, the age difference becomes quite important. As an extreme example, the difference in life experience between somebody my age and somebody of the age of one of my adult grandchildren is simply too large. Of course, as you grow older, ten or twenty years make less of a difference.
