The attack in New Orleans happened early on New Year's Eve Day, where the guy ran over dozens of pedestrians, in the French Quarter of the city, then got out and started shooting at first responders and police--was soon shot dead.

The attack in Las Vegas happened hours later and was apparently a Tesla Cybertruck loaded with fireworks and gasoline and some sort of detonator, exploding in front of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. Police say they think he died of a self-inflicted gunshot before the explosion.

Interestingly, there are coincidences the attacks that, otherwise, have no connection.
* Attacks happened the same day
* Both suspects were American-born citizens
* Both had military affiliation--the Vegas guy was active duty US Army
* Both rented their vehicles from the Turo app.
* Both vehicles were battery electric "pickup" trucks (if you kinda squint, the Cybertruck is like a pickup)
President-elect Trump quickly blamed it on immigrants.

Further details to follow, I'm sure.
