In the first three months of 2025, Canadians were down 3.4%, equal to about 42,000 fewer visitors. These numbers are even worse in some areas of Florida. For instance, Visit Lauderdale President and CEO Stacy Ritter said Canadian tourists were down by 20%.

These now comprise 28% of the international visitors heading to Florida, and therefore significantly impact the local economy. In particular, Canadian tourists supply about 16% of Florida’s sales taxes and contribute about $130 billion to the state’s economy.

The UMass Amherst poll, released Monday, found that Trump’s approval rating slipped six percentage points since the survey was last conducted in April. According to the new poll, just 38% of respondents approved of how Trump is handling his job as president while 58% disapproved.
