It doesn't matter whether it's fast or slow. It can go either way.
What does matter is that it works and lasts.

For me when it's slow there has to be something that sets it aside from platonic friendship. I do not hang out with a bloke for friendship since I'm not looking for a male friend.

When it is an instant chemistry, I would wonder if it really is love or just lust. I seem to remember in school learning about some biological chemical in your brain that makes a guy want to stay around a woman for the first year, caveman stuff so he protects her during the pregnancy time (maybe that is why some people have so many kids one after another, just getting another hit of that hormone?...lol). But I guess that is not to say that lust can not turn into love over time...

I've had a relationship that began with an instant spark. That didn't have anything to do with lust but with a deep feeling of Soul recognition, a sense of having known each other before, deep love, belonging.
It was the most romantic thing I've ever experienced in my life!
Fact it ended wasn't related to the fact it began with love at first sight, or an instant spark.

But even if there is a very strong sexual attraction, that too can be a great binder for a lasting relationship, provided there is more to it than mere sex.

However it begins for you, better to take the time to learn all about each other before taking a big step in to marriage in my opinion..
