is it possible to set my distance preference. So that I wouldn't get so money likes from people that are so far away, if not possible with the free version, is that part of the paid subscription

No…there is no way to prevent anyone from anywhere from matching with you and no, it is NOT part of the upgrade either.

You can't see "likes" with the free version.

If you are seeing likes you don't like, delete or ignore and move on with life.
