Ohh they have the phone chargers that are solar powered..that comes with solar panels..
I have not bought one yet just seen them not a bad idea..
The extra charger I have for my phone I keep it fully charged just in case I loose power.
I bought a power bank a few months ago. Keep that charged at all times. If it's a good one you can charge your phone 3-4 times with that :)
Crystal.... that is what I have is a power bank.. And yes it last a while... Plus can charge more than one device at a time.. I even have a cigarette lighter port on my Trike that I have a adapter for so I can charge right off the battery of my Trike..
It came in handy one time when I broke down about 35 minutes from my house.. Had to call my son to bring his horse trailer so we could load my Trike to get it to the shop..
I sat on my trike playing games for about an hour till he got there.. 
Yes they're real handy! I only got mine about 2 months ago, just in case of an emergency.
I too have a cigarette port in my car but the darned thing doesn't work. Same problem in the car I had before. At the time, when I had to get this car, I thought, "okay, gonna miss the old one but at least I'll have a cig lighter again." Only to find out it didn't work in this car either?
I guess my cars are trying to tell me to finally quit smoking, hahaha.
Does mean I can't charge anything with it either.
