Crystal mentioned starting her new painting in the locked previous iteration of this saga.
As a long-time visual arts museum fanboy, one of my favorite artists of all time is Hieronymus Bosch.
I have a 50-year overdue hardcover library book from a former city & I keep it in a cupboard right up alongside squatter #2 (half-bath room) so I can look at the glossy full-color plates in it quite frequently.
The Garden of Earthly Delights is something I'd love to have hanging in my home so I could see it multiple times a day.
There's also a 19th? century oil hanging in the Milwaukee museum by the lake.
It shows a woman working a ledge garden deep in a very steep & narrow shadowed Tyrolean? alpine canyon with the sun starting to peek over the towering mountainside to bring her garden its few hours of light & her being illuminated by the stab of the sun's first rays down on her little ledge.
Likely a German/Austrian artist, given The Cream City's immigration history.
I've plotted for DECADES how to pull off a heist to gain custody of that painting.
Never would though, because it would deprive others of its soul-searing beauty.
I'd trade almost anything to have a lick of true talent.
β’When I was a musician I could play anything flawlessly from score & then memory.
I could never learn to jam or improvise.
β’I can handle the written & spoken English language with the skill of a top surgeon, but have failed dozens of attempts to get past the 1st paragraph on writing a novel.
β’When I was in school for Architecture I tried my hand at freehand drawing.
Can't draw a straight line or a recognizable image of anything even if I had a noose around my neck & a gun pointed at my head.
I am extremely jealous of my youngest who CREATES true art with the flick of a few fingers.
Each of us is gifted in our own ways.
Lawdy, I would trade my born intelligence for even a smattering of ANY kind of artistic talent.
Alas, I am doomed to be an admirer, not a generator.
My eternal gratitude to those who do make art & bring so much joy/sadness/amazement/beauty/wordless moments into my heart.
