I read the following phrases often but have no idea what the writer means by them. So, what exactly is YOUR definition of "down to earth" and "open minded"?

When I read "open minded" for example, it translates to "swinging" or that one of the people in that relationship is going to wind up dressed in head to toe leather!

Explain yourself!

While I don't have either of these phrases in my profile I tend to think "down to earth" basically means they are not a dreamer. They tend to think about what is going on now. Whereas "open minded" tends to be open to new ideas or differences of opinion. Possibly just a willingness to try new things.

shocked Obviously there must be a regional subplot to these words because there is a huge cavern between Tmommy's definition and rug212001's definition...slaphead

And as a Midwestern/small town rural human, I'd be leaning more towards the:

'down to earth' = simple folk type and easy going/not high maintenance

'open minded' = willing to listen to reason and willing to hear new ideas/might take some time but willing to hear you out

This explains it better, this is the way I see it.. even though others may not... just saying~~~~~

This is pretty much what I see since to me someone 'Open minded" at least will be someone that I can talk with that may have at least the ability to chat about many different things not agreeing always but able to delve into different concepts.

Down to earth means they are real I don't look at that as simple folk. More the opposite in fact.. They are comfortable in their own skin, they aren't going to go out of your way to impress you what you see is what you get..

Haaahaaa I am just about as down to earth as they come and will talk openly on almost anything but that's not usually what's meant when I get these in a messagehappy

OK - Ok...to be on the safe side; it would be best for you to probe into the profile and ask more in depth questions {for those profiles that your curious enough to venture} or look at their location and take it at face value!

But beware; I do know some rather off putting 'KINKY ARSED' people out here in KS {they hide out in rural America} that would scared a hooker straight! Just say'n... drinker

"down to earth" - not caught up in superficial things, genuine, on the same wavelength as you are.

"Open minded" - is when even if you think you are right, you know that you can be wrong and are always willing to listen to and hear an opposing or contradictory view.
