I'm sure this sounds pessimistic, and I'm sure this isn't true about anyone here in the forums, but I kinda feel like most human beings are prostitutes in some form or another. I used to wait tables and I usually wasn't very successful because I wore my emotions on my sleeve. If I was having a bad day, all could tell and my tips would reflect it. One day I was waiting a table and this guy told probably the lamest joke I had ever heard, but I laughed my a$$ off like it was the funniest $hit ever. I got a great tip but felt like a dirty whore for days. I'm just glad that once a whore doesn't mean always a whore.
You will be better rewarded when you see such a transaction as an opportunity to make yourself feel better by helping someone else feel better. Rather than just a financial transaction.
Most if not all human interactions are a transaction of some sort but when you reduce them to just a transaction you rob yourself of a lot of the value to be gained
Of course if you dont mind your teeth rotting and developing diabetes I;m sure there is value to be found in developing a relationship based on the value of sugar
