You can train yourself to take things at face value, and not play out all manner of scenarios in your head, before even talking or meeting.

Activity partner, to me, means someone to do things with that both enjoy (bowling, putt-putt golf, wineries, concerts, fishing, movies, garage sales, biking, etc.) without any commitment or emotional feelings. This, to me, would not involve paying for the other person for the activity.

I used to think that activity partner is someone you go flee market and garage sale shopping, yaga partner, salsa dance partner, like a buddy, mate, platonic friend. But I always thought, one does all these thing with their girlfriends (if women), drinking beer or playing golf with their mates (if men).
