O.K. "Benny and the Jet's"?
Yes, I'm back, sorry about that, had some stuff to do and a State of the Union to view. Sorry I missed your riddle, silly me, I would have said cocktail olive or something.

So what do you think 'ol Elton was getting at in his strange lyrics of "Benny & the Jets?"

Don't believe there's any deep symbolic meaning in "Bennie and the Jets" actually. I think it's just a straight up story about a fictitious band and it's fans. Could be about Elton himself actually...."...he's got electric boots...a mohair suit..."
"We'll kill the fatted calf tonight." Okay, what does that mean?
According to the song lyrics, Bennie is a girl, short for Benita, like Lopez's mom in the George Lopez show, she wears electric boots and a mohair suit, apparently she's famous because she's in a magazine, and she's probably a singer, judging by the lyrics that follow, so she must have appeared in Rolling Stone or High Times. Really strange lyrics but a timeless classic of a song by Sir Elton. When you take the lyrics out of some of these songs, it can be difficult to try to understand what the songwriter was trying to tell you, the message or the meaning.
"killing the fatted calf" could just mean that they are gonna' celebrate, ya' know...pull out all the stops. Like, they've sacrificed and waited for just this moment to truly live, ya' know?

thanks for clearing that up, other than those lyrics, I've never heard that term used before. Then again he is British, so that slang must have passed me by, when I first heard it. In that context, it does seem to fit with the party atmosphere of the rest of the song.
That would also make sense, huh. Too bad it's not PC to eat veal these days. I still do, but then I was never politically correct.
O.K. This is the story about a "Big Shot"... wanna' hear it? These people in this song are real pretentious morons, man....
...But his friend is warnin' him , right? Say's "Hey man....when ya' wake up with yr swollen red eyes and yr hangover that's so bad that yr head feels like a frozen pineapple...well...cry in yr coffee all ya' want, man...but I told ya' so..." See...cuz' he had to be a big shot, dig?
