Kirk Hammet learned from Joe Satriani of course hes good. but its not really something Id compare cause James isn't a slouch either. For a rhythm guitarist he did a lot of the writing for the band. Also playing a set of only metallica songs can be physically tiring. I give him props for that jackhammer right hand technique. Besides I never view art or artist in a way that makes a competition out of their work. Its not like a marathon where you can easily pick a winner. When it comes to art its always a matter of personal taste.
