I have a lot of favorite lines about religion in movies, comics and books.
One of them are from the manga, Berserk.
The main character, Guts aka the black swordsman is a branded man haunted by spirits that possess the living and the dead all want to kill him and the woman he loves.
He gets captured by the vatican and stripped of his clothing and weapons. He faces a woman to answer for his crimes against god.
The woman wishes to know his motives and threatens him with fire.
Then the amazing dialogue:

Guts: Do you... believe in god and the devil?
Woman: How dare you even ask such a thing...
After I told you not to take his name in vain...
Guts: Have you met him?
God?
Woman: God in his glory does not show himself upon this earth.
God exists because we have faith.
In my heart... and even more so in heaven.
Guts laughs
Woman: How dare you laugh!
Guts: Your answer is like drawing a picture.
You study that in a cloister?
A long time ago... on a battlefield, there was a nobleman who spoke like you...
There was a town that had been burned completely to the ground, along with the women, and the children.
The man I speak of had filled the ranks with penniless beggars.
They never stood a chance in this shi t duty and there was no sign of god.
Confession was a waste of time. They could not repent or change.
They would never understand what you have just told me.
At most, one of them might have passed by the temple and smelled the stink of it's splendor.
Woman gets mad and starts whipping Guts on his chest.
Woman: I shall not forgive you again.
And then I shall not stop until your skin is falling away from your body, and I am certain your mouth will never speak again. I swear by my faith.
Guts: You couldn't if you tried.
With your god.. and your commanders..
It all comes down to human ambition.
That old bridge knight(one of her very loyal comrades).
When he spoke to you.
You had the same respect for him...
As the other guy had for the beggars.

i am agnostic and see no difference between a religious fanatic and an athiest in terms of belief but athiests to be slightly more dull

Everything you just said testifies to your ignorance. Why would intelligent creation be more likely... How can you say that with such confidence?

Let's say I claim that a teapot is orbiting the sun somewhere in space then it's nonsensical for me to expect others to believe me on the grounds that they cannot prove me wrong.

So even though there is a chance that GOD DID IT, it's pretty safe to say he didn't.

I don't have faith in no god. I have knowledge of what can be proven. I have knowledge that what can't be proven doesn't exist.

Actually, while Occam's Razor is definitely on your side, that's a bit of a straw man.

I don't know that God, or any God, for that matter ...

(There's a lot more anecdotal evidence for Zeus and Hera and Athena and all that gang and all the demigod mortals they screwed into unsuspecting humanity than there is in the monotheist Bible where JHWH only knocked up one girl, and that without even taking her virginity! (Medically possible. Hymens (hymena?) in human women are not always impervious to sperm))

... For that matter, does not exist. But the fascinating number of priests, and that they all claim to be of the only and best one, reeks of not so much received gospel as self-serving bovine excrement.

It seems to me a really good idea to live your life as if they did not exist, and that anyone who says any god exists is trying to scam you out of something, be it money or loyalty or just parroting a political line.

So I am an atheist. There are no gods.

PS - You might say that makes me agnostic, but you would be wrong. It's not the actions of the gods (there aren't any) that made up my mind, it's the actions of the priests of the gods that confirmed to me beyond a reasonable doubt that there aren't any gods. S.
