This is true but when they are trying to hit up a chick that's either their daughters or granddaughter ages it's kinda gross!

I read so many a ladies profile on M2 and respond accordingly.
Its almost a habit now. I am always trying the to understand the mindset of our beautiful and adorable creatures. Hence,I don't like it when a profile reads ''no answer all through'' or very little info. I admire ladies who who have good oral and written articulation. Most ladies on the forum are endowed with this quality.
On Scammers...
It is important that you understand the scammers ultimate destination....your pocket(money).
Don't send money to anyone!!!! They tell spurious tales.
2.Listen to the tone:
When chatting ,a Man and a woman will never sound alike....their tone differs. Therefore, if a Man is impersonating a woman(as it is often the case) at some point,his true identity will be obvious through his tone.
3. Most scammers easily ask for pics so that they can use it to build fake profiles. I have spotted a lot here.
4. Some scammers too don't spell well
and may go off point during chats because they are talking to so many people at once .
5. Location:
Scammers are everywhere,but some locations are 'hotspots'. West,East, Africa,Russia,Asia etc
There are many good guys in these places that must be said. The scammers from these locations give the good guys bad names.
6. Scammers can be diabolical:
Many pro scammers use demonic powers to control the minds of their victims. So you must be equipped with a higher power (Jesus power :wink:

) not be their victim. They even shed blood to acquire power to hypnotize their victim.
They are usually unscrupulous fellows who see their victims as "mugus''( stupid ). God

i read bios and appreciate the effort put into them. hopefully to run across someone looking for the same things I'm after. so far I've run across nothing but scammers here which is sad. i don't go out, I'm shy, and coming out of a 15 year marriage void of communication and friendship. and i can't even get in touch with legit women here.

if i message someone i usually make reference to something on their profile so they know i've read it, i'm good like that

same here, i try to be as honest and forthcoming as possible when attempting to break the ice.

yes men do read! scammers don't all they focus on is getting or giving an email I always read everything on a woman's profile if not how would I know what you've expressed about yourself and at first I had a good feeling joining this site but then after a while I kind of regret it cause it now seems to me 90% of t.hese people on this site is fake it's like a waste of time here trust me......

I can't speak for everyone, but yes. I really read the profile. That's actually the first thing I do. Even when looking at matches, I try to go read the profile first (which the site does not easily facilitate.)

When talking with someone, I do ask questions that may already be in the profile. Part of that is to help weed out scammers and dishonest people. Part of that is that I don't want it to appear on her "Recent Activity" that I've gone to see her profile again. The recent activity does provide a disincentive to refreshing one's memory with the profile when you start to communicate with someone, especially if a few days have passed.

You are taken, you live in Alaska, live life fully and don't believe people should self identify by their profession. There's more to it but that's what stuck in my mind. Great profile, btw.

I see some many females on this and other online sights, saying they're tired of receiving the "hi" messages. We as men get them too. In fact, I never seem to get messages that say any more than that. I usually reply with "hi" and wait to see what else they'll write. Usually, that's the extent of their efforts. I think that as men within the dating online world the odds are stacked against us. There are more men than women online, so the women have more choice. Therefore a lot of guys get disheartened because they don't get a response after taking the time to craft the kind introduction we are often advised to by people within the forum or moderators. i.e "make reference to something you've read in the recipient's profile. I have always done this yet it gets me nowhere. I think with other guys on here eventually they begin to write shorter and shorter introductions. In the real world "hello" or "hi" is enough to start a conversation. The other person replies then a conversation can start. Online for some reason, men are all of a sudden expected to be William Shakespeare if they expect a woman to reply?

Many just don't possess that skill it doesn't make them any less worthy of finding love, does it?

Anyway, if there's nothing to read of interest on a profile, especially those who've chosen to right nothing. I assume they're not interesting and move on.

LoL I'll often click on a profile by mistake and figure I may as well read it while I'm there.
I also look at peoples profiles to find out more about the person who has posted in the forums.
Some times its just because their profile name is so intriguing i have to find out more.
The recent activity does cause concern when i worry if I am appearing overly interested when its my memory failing to deliver

While a profile isnt everything its a good place to start

While I can't speak for all men here, rest assured that at least one man does read the profiles in their entirety. The last thing I want is to contrubite to a harrassing circumstance due to being TOTALLY misinformed. Great question though!

OK, I am just looking at the dating pool. My profile is perhaps rather negative, in that I am NOT looking to 'hookup' - just viewing the pool candidates..
The comments of emails I receive, it is pretty obvious to me that my profile is NOT being read at all, as the comments in their emails reference what a nice profile it is, etc... are you kidding me?did you read it???
Or are they just MANREADING it?
Manreading - look at the pictures and carry on anyway..
Hints about scammers would be appreciated..

You will get better with spotting scammers as you go along. Language is a big give away. If they "want to know you more", ask more questions than they give information, want you to believe they are up in the middle of the night emailing you, or immediately ask you to go to another free site, giving or begging for a phone number right off the bat, tell you they are a widowed engineer with a kid you can bet they are bogus.

There are always going to be the guys on line that hope you are going to be the cyber version of the girl in the bar or hope to sex talk for free. Report, block, and move on without taking it personal. NEVER; EVER, give someone your home number or where you work. There are criminals on line. And they can charm the whiskers off a cat.

Legit guys are going to try and ask questions and probably want to see a recent full length photo but they don't usually give you a psychological profile or some flowery description of their sudden infatuation. Almost all men will tell you that you are beautiful sooner or later; maybe it is a safe answer or genuine but hey beats the alternative. And legit guys do not care if you are "perfect". Most are going to be as afraid of you being a scammer or blabbing their personal stuff as you are of them. Most are sensitive about someone trying to play them for money so be sympathetic about work (but wait for them to offer specifics) and those women that play head games. A lot of the best guys are parents, and good ones, but they will be pretty tight lipped about it for at least a while. Legit guys do read what is posted so if you are constantly breaking balls and whining they would rather deal with someone with less "bad attitude". A lot of decent guys do live with extended family during post divorce periods, especially if they have kids, because two families can not live as cheaply as one and they have out grown the "party animal" stage. There are a lot of great guys on Mingle on and off the forums. Good luck.

Not all the scammers are men. I have had matches from 39 year old women from Kenya, yeah right. I have grandchildren almost that old. Obviously the "not" reading of profiles is not gender specific. I read every profile of a picture that piques my interest. Let's face it the first contact is visual, if there s a phony smile (not to the eyes) or scowl or the pouty lips I go no further. Who in the world told women that the pouty lip pose was appealing to men. I look at eyes first and then the rest (well always the rest) I am a man and we are visually stimulated. Smile mile and then smile again. It can be a quirky smile or a funny smile or an enticing smile. Notice the common theme here? SMILE.

Just to elaborate. I've been on the site about a week. I've had 4 women ask me to provide cell or google chat. One straight up asked me to for money for air fare to come visit me for the weekend. slaphead
