Even if they don't take the money Federal Law still trumps State Law. Just like the voters voting to make Marijuana illegal here in Nevada, if President Trump wanted to he could shut that down, and he has made comments that he will.

Seems like more proof there's no real difference between left and right.

If the funding isn't pulled then it does. All's I am saying is President Trump should invoke the Supremacy Clause and enforce the Federal Laws in the states that refuse to comply.

and just how are they ignoring the constitution? when they turned the FEDERAL law legal drinking age to 21, they withheld federal highway funds to any state that didn't comply... eventually, they all did..

same thing, the government controls the federal laws, and the states to control and enforce them... if a bank robber robs a federal bank, is it only feds who chase and arrest them? .. no, it's all police that do...

Is there a 'federal' definition of what constitutes a 'sanctuary city'?

And, when 'funding' is threatened to be pulled, where is it pulled from? The people that enforcing the law is allegedly going to help?

what would make sense is specific citing of specific laws and prosecuting the breaking of the law, like with anyone else.

I have not been arrested , but to my understanding, they generally have not required you to prove your citizenship when you are,, only to provide your identity,,,

oh well... if the police are looking for a black man with a white shirt, i don't think they are gunna be stopping a lot of white guys, now are they?

the gangsters got you on board with the profiling crap, because it really doesn't exist but in the minds of criminals and those who believe the criminals are right... the criminals don't wanna be stopped, but yet they are:

they live in a high crime area
they just fit the description
they actually did it...

all the whining about profiling won't stop the police from doing their jobs, they have to profile to get criminals of the streets...

and no, there are no gangstas in my family, in fact, my brother is a doctor and STILL experiences the profiling, REGARDLESS of the community he is in

Id love police to continue doing their job of catching actual criminals, and not just ASSUMING ones membership in a demographic makes them one,,,

knowing his rights and expecting them to be respected,,,and being tired of being so often a resource for cops allegedly just 'doing their jobs' regardless of his working/educational/taxpaying/lawabiding citizenship status

or in short, being harassed, regardless if its someone in uniform or out,,

to harass: b (1) : to annoy persistently was harassing his younger brother (2) : to create an unpleasant or hostile situation for especially by uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical conduct was being harassed by her classmates

oh, so your uncle is better than everyone else in the world? so the cops just stop doing their job, and quit talking with anyone... are you gunna police your neighborhood? how are you gunna solve any crimes without talking with anyone? even if you know who did the crime, how are you going to find them without talking with other people?

how often have you been stopped WALKING with a book?
how often have you had guns pulled on you IN YOUR YARD?
how often have you been asked for your id as a backseat PASSENGER in someones car?
how often have you been at your job, as a doctor , IN A HOSPITAL, and had police answer a call from someone who said they felt intimidated by you?

and how often in your LIFETIME, or even ANNUALLY do these things happen in spite of you breaking no laws?

it happens... sorry black people seem to think all white people are out to get them... but when it happens to me, i don't think it's a racial thing, just an unfortunate event... i was in the wrong place at the wrong time... if i had been anywhere else, just as your uncle, it wouldn't have happened..

More then 1/2 the time I travel thru airports I am pulled to the side and given a closer check.. at times asked to answer questions. power up my lap top, take your shoes off ( again) ect, ect And not only in the U.S.A. It happens in other parts of the world where air security measures are followed.

There must be something about the way I look.. walk.. talk.. places I go to or have been to.. really don't know ... but it clicks with security .

Is that profiling.. yep.. it is. in the truest form. It is a inconvenience but it doesn't bother me one bit.. I do as they ask, answer whatever questions they have, show them whatever paperwork they want to see and then go about my way

I appreciate that they are soo thorough and I feel safer that they are doing what they are doing.
