people focus on surviving and getting through their lives, they also have grievances ... there is no evidence that they therefore can't focus on anything but their grievance, racial or otherwise ...
and you think it's not a problem? instead of minorities trying harder and studying more, it's easier to play a race card just to beat the white man who did study and learn?
if only hard work and study were TRULY 'all' it took ... because minorities have been some of the hardest 'working' in the country ...
And you consider failing a test, (a standard test given to candidates regardless of their color).. a valid grievance?
Well, if its and consolation ( and it is to me) I am told those who " grievance" their way to the status of Chief do not have the respect of the men they command. And never will.
the race card can't buy respect.
as per my quotes, my post is not responding to anything about a firefighters test,, but about the quote I included regarding 'working hard'
Of course you are not responding to the firefighter statement, because that would go against your agenda.
The white firefighters WERE certainly discriminated upon (The whites who failed the test had to wait a few years and retake it and the whites who passed the test had all of their hard work and study.. cheapened) and the black candidates who failed were given a free pass..just because of their skin color... and they jumped at it.. took the easy way.. just flipped out the race card
Fact
And that MS is.. discrimination.
did only white firefighters have to retake the test, and did only black firefighters get a 'pass'?
or was a test thrown out for all who took it and were all able to retake it?
??? read the history on it.
The people who sued.. were black and Hispanic... only black and Hispanic..
Yes. ONLY black and Hispanic got a pass..
your second paragraph makes no sense.
what part of blacks and Hispanics suing because they failed a test did you not understand. If you fail the test then EVERYONE who failed the first time has the right to take it when it comes back out in 2 years.
The blacks and Hispanics who sued did not want to do that.. they didn't want to study harder, get more experience.. and take the test again so they sued stating that the test was biased...unfair to them.. because they were a minority. And somehow because of their skin color they should get more credit then the white guys who studied hard and passed. And not all white guys passed.. not by a long shot.
Was there some blacks and Hispanics who passed the test.. yes there was. And they earned the rank. Also proving that the test was not biased at all.
It is a very hard test and only the best suited should pass.. regardless of color.
Because all that PC bullsh*t, means little to you when you are trapped in a fire.. and you are hoping that chief out there calling the shots knows what he is doing.
they played the race card MS... not the first time and won't be the last. Easy to see.. except for those with only one color in their crayon box.
the assessment sounds fishy. I doubt that if they deemed the test racist, they still allowed the blacks who took it to receive credit. It is more likely that ALL applicants who took it did not get credit for it.
Other than that,
I don't know the case. I wont comment on second hand information. If discrimination is shown, than the 'race card' is relevant. Some authority apparently thought it was.
Lol.. try doing your homework on the subject. as you speak of discrimination all the time.. here is a classic case
but because it is the whites who were discriminated upon.. it is fishy Lol...:)
no my friend, (although I do often interject, when OTHERS bring it up or imply racial correlations perceptions, another point of view based on living as a BLACK person)
I do not speak of discrimination all the time
it may be interesting to note that as one of few BLACK posters here, I rarely if EVERY create a thread centering about race or racial matter,
yet
when others who are not of my persuasion do just that, my very interjection of my own perception somehow becomes my 'agenda' or what I 'always' do
just interesting to note (but probably not to those who make the allegations or do the accusing)
anyways ....
what was fishy was the implication that only the whites were made to retake the test or have their results discounted
the discrimination case, had details that are not included here, so I do not know what about the test may have flagged as discriminatory,, a personality assessment? or some other subjective standard not necessarily associated with the job? IT could be many things, just that it was a test tells me nothing about why the decision was made.
my perception is really just the flip side of those who assume a minority making a claim of discrimination is merely using a 'race' card
