in other words, looking at raw numbers, a city having 100 murders seems worse than one that has 50

the former has a population of 10,000 and the latter only a population of 60... so the proportion to the population (per capita)matters when measuring severity from city to city.

The flaw in your theory is I’d be willing to bet those doing the shooting aren’t able to legally own a firearm so they don’t need to travel but around the corner to obtain a firearm.

They should start drug testing people receiving food stamps in these areas...including teenagers. No welfare for kids who aren't going to school and case workers actually verify it with the school

Nobody here has a problem with food stamps.. not at all, nobody here would ever deny someone food. And nobody here would ever deny a kid anything that they needed to grow

Drug testing should be a requirement as that protects the child from that environment AND they government needs to come up with a fool proof way of making sure the food stamp recipient is the one using the card. This so they can not sell the card for cash.

I watched an interview of the investigator over gangs in ATL. He said the parents of these teens in gangs have no idea where they are. They just want the welfare for the kids. I worked with a woman who was getting foodstamps for a son who didn't even live in the same state. She would have tested positive for drugs and her son would have been cut for not being there, if they had bothered checking to see if he was enrolled in school. Tax payers are supplementing their drug habits. It only fuels the fire.

They are street smart and they know the ways to beat the system, They were taught how to and they ruin it for those who really need it

Gangs need to be wiped out, put the criminals in jail. Then put them on work programs releasing them in small groups daily to clean up Every area, of the. City's Slum areas trash and such! Then back to jail .
