If you go into these poor communities, you see a plethora of liquor stores. And what's happening is that women - in this case, African-American women - don't know they're pregnant for the first month or two. They're engaging in social drinking causing fetal alcohol spectrum disorders in children. And so when you fast forward 17, 18 years later, look in the juvenile detention center, three-fourths of the children in those facilities can read - have something that looks like ADHD, have speech and language disorders, have poor impulse control, have poor social judgment. That's all fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

And lets.. not.. fast forward 18 years to the detention center.

Because it is my opinion those 18 years were the critical growing years, the years when you are supposed to be molding your kids.. teaching them right from wrong.. being there for them. Mentoring them. Making them go to school. Maybe if that was done, the kid does not wind up in the detention center.

you can't just" fast forward" past those years and say it was the booze.

the article doesnt say it is THE reason, it gives it as A reason. and it is a reason that cant be 'mentored' away anymore than the mental illnesses of school shooters or serial killers.

Its the system.. the Government, the cops, the booze. Its everything except the parents... right?

your kid throws a rock thru a window, acts up in school, steals from a store. Do they call the government?.. no they don't, they call the PARENT

Why?

Because the parent is responsible for their kids until they are of age. not the government, not the cops, not social workers... the parent.

And when kids grow up watching their parent doing the wrong thing, such as drugs, not working, or their "baby daddy" being a thug.. or in prison that is what molds their mind. Because kids mimic what their parent (s) do in early life... is this really a surprise?

So, at some point it is the people who raise these kids who have to stand up and take responsibility for their upbringing, not some other entity that didn't create them, that are not with them 24/7.

And this is also no surprise to ANY parent who has raised kids.

And in the case of the Gangster Disciples the long line of thugs go back to 1960. Generations of them.

So when is that actually going to happen, ( personal responsibility within the black community for what you created and raised) because the situation is getting worse and worse.

And the deflection of blame...are excuses.. and a cop out.

And what high horse would that be?. raising kids not to murder, not to terrorize. Yes, I did that. That is not a high horse... that is called being a father. Which 100's of millions have also done. Mothers and fathers.

This high horse that you talk of is the standard in parenting. Nothing new. Handed down from generation to generation, Morals, values, responsibility. Why this is not taught in those areas is a question only those parents can answer.

Certainty not a question the cops can answer, or the government, or the social worker, or school teachers.. it is a questions the parent (s) and family can only answer.

And because this is not being done there we are considered scapegoating from a high horse?

Was the democratic mayor of Chicago scapegoating from a high horse as well when he stated that maybe the black community should be teaching their kids morals and right from wrong or was he just telling the truth?

Are these only my words? I certainly did not coin them. I am not the first to say them and I will not be the last. From politician on down to regular people, across all ethnic groups.

telling the truth is not being on a high horse..it is just the truth.. which is soo hard for some to take because it is a reflection on them and their shortcomings.

high horse: to start talking angrily about something bad that someone else has done as if you feel you are better or more clever than they are


why do pastors who raise their kids inside of biblically disciplined homes get rebellious misbehaving kids?

why do parents who raise up their kids in ultra fit ultra healthy homes sometimes get kids who grow up to embrace unhealthy habits?

why do parents who raise their kids with the best of schooling and safety and love, end up with school shooters?

answer: because we are NOT simply the product of how our parents raised us, we are not grown in a tunnel with just our parents, we are influenced and impacted upon by our ENVIRONMENTS AS WELL, especially as children

so to unyieldingly suggest there is some simple answer of just 'its the parents fault for doing such a poor job', is a high horse attitude.

And why do parent(s) raise their kids with no structure, no morals no role model, no sense of right and wrong.. then pawn the blame of the outcome on others.

you'd have find which parents do that and ask them.

A good starting place would be the 4 areas in Chicago.. wouldn't it? Because there appears to be a total breakdown there.

In another shooting on Saturday, a 12-year-old girl, Kanari Gentry Bowers, who was shot in the head while playing in another part of the city. She died on Wednesday, according to a family statement.


And on Tuesday, in a shooting captured on Facebook Live, a 2-year-old boy, Lavontay White, was fatally struck in the head by a bullet, and a 26-year-old man, a known gang member, was killed while both were in the same car, the police said, adding that it appeared to be a targeted shooting. A pregnant woman in the vehicle was also wounded in the shooting, The Chicago Tribune reported.

I mean people dont obey road rules, parents fault.
people kill their spouses, parents fault.
people become serial killers, parents fault.
people become rapists or arsonists, parents fault.

Im sure to get to the bottom of 'bad parenting' it wont be as simple as focusing on chicago.
