some use alcohol, drugs , jumping out of plans , bungy jumping , rocket riden , meditating , orgasms ,u.f.o. hitch hiking ,grenade juggling , sword swallowing , etc etc etc
all depends on the person
and sometimes , some use more then one

Meditation

Most of us have many thought streams running thru our minds. Some ego related, some anxiety/fear related....and then there are the ones that are calm, rational, and encourage us towards positive action, trusting ourselves, and considering others and our impact in the world. Those are the thoughts/voices/instincts you wanna start trying to identify and focus on.

When I started I had such a sea of anxious fearful self-talk in my head it was hard to pick out the calm rational thoughts. It gets much easier with practice identifying and dismissing the fearful clutter in our minds

This is just a starting point but I’m sure if you start focusing on these higher thought streams you will find your path

The entire planet and everything on it -including us- moved into the 4th Dimension in 2015.
We're getting ready to get into the 5th. That is approx the highest you can permanently get while having a physical body. you can get higher, but not to live there.
Whether you can get to higher dimensions -and which ones- or not depends on your level of personal growth & development. In other words the amount of baggage you still carry around. Then it comes to cleansing your energy system and so on.
How? Personal growth & development in whatever form, clearing issues, meditating and so on.
Doing workshops / courses that offer this can help tremendously.
With meditation I can get to the 11th and sometimes 13th Dimension. But I've done donkeys years of purging, energy work, meditating, and I'm an older soul.
And it does depend on how I feel, AND what the meditation is about. Sometimes I get to 7D. Funny enough hardly ever 9D?
I have been at higher than 13D during a workshop. But then you have the group dynamic which helps elevate the energies, and a very powerful workshop leader who could at the time get to 18D.

In short it requires continued cleansing & purging, growth, energywork and so on.
