Our New Governor is getting loans for government employees out of work to pay their due bills. They just have to apply for a loan for their family.

Governor is borrowing up to 100. Million . I t was on our local news station.

He's a Democratic. So he is for all the borrowing and spending. whoa

Why wasnt this so urgent when Republicans had both houses?

Even if all Republicans dont think alike, getting a MAJORITY should not have been that hard, if it was really THAT SERIOUS, right?

the US Constitution has no mention of republican or democrat, government is supposed to be doing whats best for the people of the country, not just their party line

lets remove the POTUS overstuffed ego and tell them to remember their JOBS and the CONSTITUTION

Stop holding government hostage to ransom for a wall and get things going

US CONSTIUTION ARTICLE 1 SECTION 7

All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law

In addition, under Senate rules, any bill must have 60 votes for it to be placed on the floor for debate and amendment. I believe the last time there were 60 votes by 1 party was in the first 2 years of Obama when the dems had 60 or 61 votes.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) tried to take up legislation to pay the Coast Guard. Nothing attached. This is the ONLY branch of military that is not getting paid. CHUCK said NO. so there could be no vote. Kennedy said he would not modify his legislation because it would then be vetoed by Trump.

"It will be a futile, useless exercise. Now, we can go through it if you want to. You can spend all day trying to teach a goat how to climb a tree, but you're better off hiring a squirrel," said Kennedy, who is known for his colorful colloquialisms.

When Kennedy rejected Schumer's request to fully reopen the government, the Senate Democratic leader in turn rejected his request to pay the Coast Guard. CHILDISH its not kennedy that is wrong, its Chuckie.

It is both of them if it is either of them. Im sure Kennedy knows it is not necessary for the President to approve if the SENATE can get a majority agreement on it.

That house/senate conference committee on Homeland department funding should be a firestorm!! And with a hard deadline!!!! So much for kicking that can down the road! Start the countdown to the border security emergency declaration by President Trump.

I saw that. Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb were acting like they had a major victory. Three weeks, it'll come to a grinding halt again. I saw them yapping at the tv cameras, but I couldn't stand hearing them. I'd rather look it up to find out the real story.

The shutdown is due to an 'us versus them' power trip.

As I have cited MANY TIMES in this thread, the 'problem' with illegals crossing And illegals present has ALREADY BEEN DECREASING for the past decade. There is no "EMERGENCY." They have time to continue improving on what they have ALREADY BEEN doing to decrease the 'problem' without halting the entire government for it.

As far as executive order, POTUS can only use it for powers they already have. Defining the budget is not one of those powers. And when a POTUS uses an executive order, Congress can also override that.

Also mentioned many times here, THANK GOODNESS WE HAVE NO DICTATORS, but a position of POTUS that MUST work in accordance with the checks and balances of the Congress.

They can stop making it some spectator sport where one 'side' wins, and plan out a budget like grown ups, with accountability for where the money will actually go in DETAIL, and review of what will work best and most responsibly (fiscally), whether its "Trump's" wall or not.

They have time to do it intelligently like mature adults, instead of ram rodding things through like pestilent children.

..the wall will get built..one way or another..From what I've seen they have NOTHING in the Mueller report..but don't tell the Dems..LOL

a need and an urgent need are different matters.

Its like saying none of the kids will eat because you are going to need grocery next month and are not sure where its coming from, and until you know what next months finance will be, everyone can just starve. Its WAY overkill and over exaggeration, a waste. it could be better handled than by shutting the government down.

Trump is a dufus. My 'enemy' is the 'winning' mentality that has infiltrated the government and doesnt refer to the American people, but to political party instead.

We had better build walls around the airports then, because most "illegals" are coming in through them, not across the border with Mexico.

Or do we need a wall to stop drugs? Watch any of the Customs and Border Patrol shows on TV (there is one on Netflix right now), and you can see that the main source of drugs coming in is through the ports.

A WALL DOES NOTHING to make us more safe, or better protected.

You say "Many Countries secure their boarders"? Are these the folks at boarding houses? What did the boarders do? Or do you mean snow boarders? Surf boarders?

Oh and any LIAR is my enemy, and Trump is the biggest liar I have ever seen. This whole shutdown is a staged event to whoop up the 30% of the morons in this country who still think this guy is some kind of intelligent mastermind. Trump plays the victim, and all you hoodwinked supporters eat it with a spoon. Trump CAVED so that he can have his SOTU, so he can have his bully pulpit. He needs the government open again just long enough to get the tax forms out.

Leave the government closed, it has not effected me in the least! And funny, all the folks who seem to support "less government" are the ones who are screaming the loudest that the government is closed.

Three weeks funding is nothing. Not to the people who will be paid for those weeks of course, but in terms of resolving any of the issues that have led to this mess, it's nothing.
