Illegals should be allowed Driver's licenses
I agree.
Especially if they're driving.
Because the fees go to pay for the roads.
They also require some sort of paper trail for identification.
It makes it easier for insurance purposes.
Driving and residency are completely different issues.
IMO it's little different than a foreign tourist getting a rental car.
It does not confer on them rights of citizenship or voting.
It just makes it easier to track them and deal with car accidents.
The first time I moved to New Mexico my insurance rates skyrocketed.
What was causing the high rates was the number of people driving drunk, and the number of illegals that were getting into accidents and just driving off (which happened to me twice in 3 years)...they had no license, they had no insurance (uninsured motorists, a large percentage were illegals).
Not to mention "illegals" do not get the same drivers licenses as citizens, they don't look the same. You look at their license, you know they aren't a citizen.
Why not just say move to the US and we will take care of you.
A lot of people have been saying that for years.
Those people seem to be winning.
Seems directly proportional to the increasing number of idiots.
I just thought that was funny.
More and more people are identifying as democrats, liberals, progressives, leftists, and more and more people are complaining about the increase in "stupidity" (and lack of consideration of others, which is even more ironic).
Illegals should have zero rights to anything.
There is no right to drive. Getting a license doesn't mean they get free cars, free gas, free insurance, or anything. They are not given anything which actually facilitates them driving, especially if they couldn't before.
Giving (selling) them a license does not convey or recognize any additional rights.
It's a bureaucratic identification system.
If there were no illegals then there wouldn't be a problem.
Not giving them licenses doesn't solve any problems.
Issuing licenses actually helps, a little, other problems. Like paying for road maintenance, and facilitating procurement of car insurance.
A country should not be responsible for the fees it costs to get your history
Huh? People are responsible for bringing in their own "history" to the DMV to get their license. Citizen or illegal.
do an investigation to find out if you are approved.
What investigation?
You just have to prove you are you and you know how to drive. You have to bring in your own evidence proving you are you.
Are you talking about registering a vehicle or renewing plates? The cost of any "investigation" or "cross referencing" is built into the fees.
Are you under the impression illegals just show up to the DMV and are ushered into a secret room where the government rolls out a red carpet?
And the illegal says "Okay! I showed up! Where's my license?!" and the workers scramble around costing taxpayer money to do everything for them in order to feel the privilege of handing an illegal a drivers license, or something?
