Cheers :)
Now do ppl in Northern Ireland identify as English or Irish?

How all this chit went throughout history with Reformed vs Catholic, the times it was changed in the UK, makes my head spin. And it was always the common folk who suffered because of it. One day being forced to be Reformed, the next being forced to be a devout Catholic. slaphead
It's a danged miracle people kept adhering to any religion. I mean, it had little to do with believing but more with surviving the day without getting your head chopped off.
One of the reasons I'm allergic to religion, hihi.
And King James being forced to raise his 2 daughter to be Anglican while he himself was Catholic. If he hadn't done that the entire future of Northern Ireland could've different for then Mary wouldn't have married a reformed man.
And her gran I suppose, Mary Queen of Scots, was also Catholic. Weird chit if you think about it.

Also, there's still have new factions of the old IRA, aren't there? I remember in Strike Back this came up and also in Sons of Anarchy I think. Something like "The New IRA".

It is a long story..:) But here in the north the Loyalist/Uninionist identify themselves as being British while Republicans are Irish, that's the thing about the conflict, it's not a catholic protestant thing, it's a British Irish thing. Larsi has mentioned the "New I.R.A." below... Theres a famous qoute by Padraig MacPiaras.." Ireland Unfree shall never be at Peace" We don't recognise "Northern Ireland" as a country as it was created by the Brits in 1921 there are 32 counties in Ireland and 6 are under occupation..smokin winking

Aye. That's why I do not recognize Stormont. Ireland should have one legislative chamber, covering all 32 counties. Tiocfaidh ar la glasses

Maith thΓΊ, I'll quote the James fella "If you strike at, imprison, or kill us, out of our prisons or graves we will still evoke a spirit that will thwart you, and perhaps, raise a force that will destroy you! We defy you! Do your worst!"

I quote the Saoradh fellas "Revolution is the only solution"

Bua no bas

Sorry but that's nonsense. As long as people keep thinking in such violent and drastic ways there will be no solution while it can be done peacefully as well. We don't live in the Middle Ages anymore ya know.
I think it's much to do with English stuck up pride, but I read that many British wouldn't object to letting go of Northern Ireland at all.
Maybe it's the queen, who's as far as I know quite proud and still thinking in the British Empire ways.
In that sense it was amazing the Scots were allowed to have their referendum for independence. I was shocked to see they didn't go for it.
But there's a whole new generation rising with different views and beliefs and coming much more from a place of the heart.

Apart from that, if it would come to war the British would flatten you. Not the way to go, no matter how angry people may be.
And we got enough terrorist BS going on in the world, we don't need more. It'd only lead to more conflict, not a solution.

Not saying, I am calling for civil war or worse. There is non violent and peaceful resistance as well.

But then, the 6 counties are occupied for all wrong reasons. I can understand if republican minded people are longing for freedom, be it the 6 counties, be it Palestine, be it the Basque Country. I all those territories, the invaders use armed force to oppress people

You can educate children about most things crystal but there is no historian, science teacher or professor that could get them to understand the car you had (picture a few posts previously )rofl

Regards to Scotland independence, imo they were looking at Ireland and the billions of euros that were given from Europe. they blew the lot through some projects and money laundering which nearly bankrupted the country. Scotland thought they would have a piece of that pie.
It's only that bitter and twisted nichola sturgeon that's trying to make a name for herself slaphead
