No security on phones !
My 3G mobile (about 2 years old) has never been online from new, never had data or ISP conection, only pre-paid ph calls and text, and poor photos. A $20.00 cheap phone.
I blue toothed numbers into it from an old 2G phone given me to use by partner years ago, with some of her friends numbers in it too, which I never rang.

Recently several people contacted me (called or texted) return my call, that I had called or messaged them, and what did I want.
I didn't call them, or pocket dial them, or loan my phone, my phone never left my possession, and the call log showed no contact with them from my phone.

Someone with high tech stuff, or keys to the systems, accessed my phone numbers without me having internet access, and contacted these people, one I have never ever called on any phone, and others very rarely and not for many months.

So not ever having, or turning off your mobile internet on phone, is still not secure and someone can still control and peruse it. Damn Fascists !!

Your phone is a 24/7 listening bug, data logger, and tracking device; leave it at home by a radio to keep it company. rant huh noway grumble

Sounds more like you were a victum of "caller id spoofing".

Unfortunately it happens these days.

Exactly ~~~ does not matter if you ever went on line with it or not your number is out there and they can get to what they want if they really want it.

Call your provider and change your number if needed..

You can add a firewall and virus scan to your phone.

And, if you don't absolutely need Blue Tooth,
keep it TURNED OFF!
It's a gateway for hackers to access your phone.

It wasn't telemarketing or political spoofing, but more exploratory spying I think.

I have blutooth and wifi turned off all the time. They use power.

The hackers probably got bored very quickly as I hardly ever use the phone, and I don't have any saucy contacts; but my mum would give them an ear full if they called her.

2 of my friends (not associated) have been hacked in different ways, so I suppose it was just my turn. Again.
Never expected it on a crap dumb phone though.

Can someone hold the tin can at the other end of my string, while I make a call ?
