Just 5 minutes every hour, get off that couch, pause the binge watching, stop the chores, and move!

Take a walk a around the block, touch your toes, jumping jacks, dance, do stretches, just take 5 minutes and move.

5 minutes for 12 hours=1 hour of exercise
Too much? Start with 5 minutes for 6 hours= 1/2 hour of exercise

With more and more of us being forced to stay at home we need new ways to stay active and break up our days. 5 minutes out of a hour.... that's all.

Come on and accept the challenge... tell us your goals, what works for you! 5 minutes out of a hour... you can do it!

laugh move it or lose it.... love it:heart:
Sounds like you stay busy, which is fantastic!
As I've got old, I find myself weakening in different areas at different times so like you said (move it or lose it)instead of stopping or doing less...
I find things to do to improve and make that action easier to dosmile2

Believe it or not right now one I'm focused on is balance and posture.... something I never thought about when I was younger.

Stay active, take breaks and stop in and let us know how it's goingflowerforyou

Are you girls still at it?
I went for my walk, not too long, but long enough. Stood still for half an hour while talking to a man who sat in the sun in his front yard. Not movement, but it was good to have some interaction!

I also did my steps around the table. Sidesteps, kicks.
Now I want mocha pie. And I haven't got that, haha.

Way to go crystalflowers

I'm still trying to maintain 5 minutes every hour for 12 hours but hasn't made it yetgrumble
6-8 times a day so far is my norm:thumbsup:

 love the side steps and kicks, a simple modification of just walking but changes which muscles you are using... fantastic!
Have you tried doing heel to toe? Like you are walking a balance beam or been pulled over for drunk drivinglaugh
Great for balance and switches things up a little:wink:

Nope, not done that. My main goal is to keep moving around but I may try it.
The sidesteps are good as we don't normally use those muscles, or not much. I also step back and forth, for the same reason: the muscles to walk backwards don't really get used.
Today I have been a bit lazy for the sheer reason I feel so sleepy today, hihi. But so far I have at least cycled a bit. Only to the supermarket but better than nothing :p

We all hit that day, busy, tired, just don't feel like it...
And guess what? That's fine... take a day recharge and rest is good for you.

Just don't let one day turn into two, into a week of not movinglaugh

Great job on getting outside and cycling, that uses totaling different muscles, than walkingflowerforyou

I've been quite busy this morning due to a challenge I'm doing online. I got dressed earlier so I could record a short vid, took a selfie in the hallway, and wrote a piece about myself.
So I have been far more active this morning and away from the PC than I normally am.
Just now, however, that same muscle that started the chit a few weeks back, toinked again, so I'm going to be very careful. Not nearly as bad as back then, but still...
I cannot go and get help now so wait and see and fingers crossed.

That was my other thought for a thread... since we are all home bound... to once a week we'd choose something like... take a selfie in your pjs, outside, wearing a hat, whatever then everyone put them up as there pro pic on say like Sunday.
.

But I'd rather workoutlaugh

I've been for a walk, shorter than usual, to see how it'd go. I do have mild tingling in my left foot.
And I've done my steps alongside the table earlier on too. And a few times bent over to just hang to give the vertebrae some space. It's not so bad that I daren't do that.

Hihi, you also gotta listen to the mind and indeed sometimes take a day of leisure. What you do is a whole lot anyways.
Typical you feel that way now, as I read from several people that they had that yesterday.
I'm thinking that maybe it has to do with tomorrow's alignment.

OT -- I didn't go for a walk as my girl came over this afternoon :) I did take a few moments to do my steps though.
And yes, being mindful of my body as my spine and/or muscles and/or ligaments aren't too happy. Not as bad as last time and I hope to keep it that way.
So I do careful Eden energy stretches and bending over to give my spine more space, rolling with a tennis ball against the door over the sore spots etc.
The biggest bummer is that it also affects my neck vertebrae, it's always like a domino track when 1 thing goes wrong... and when the Atlas gets stuck I also get a bit dim and easier dizzy.

So moving yes, but carefully so :)

Enjoy your day off!

No walkies today, but I did cycle to the supermarket, did some fitness step around the table. And I was away from the PC to record another reading.
Okay, then I'm sat down again, but at least not staring at the square screen, hihi.

Not for me, I'm slowly building up to what I was doing 6 months ago. Adding one exercise at a time and building up reps, little by little.

We all have our own journey:heart:
I started this thread, with everyone being in lockdown to remember to move and was hoping we could share ideas and encouragement for staying fit at home.

I love what you've shared, and I've added in the side steps. Which are definitely a different muscle group than I was using.

Way to keep moving crystalflowers

Yes, sidesteps are different muscles we normally don't use much. Maybe you do when you have a sex life, hahaha, or ride horses.

No walkies or steps today yet as I've been busy outside, mowing the lawn which is hard work. Lawn isn't smooth, it's all lumps and bumps, horrible to mow.
And the grass is getting really long too, meaning I regularly have to lift my end of the mower so it doesn't choke to death on it, hihi.
I think I've had my fitness for the day! Not done the entire lawn, too much.

Maybe tonight I'll do some more steps, wait and see how my back holds up.
But doing this daily is nice, feels good. Kicks, sidesteps, walking back & forth so I get the backside muscles too, knee lifts. I like knee lifts & kicks as you then also use the abs, including diagonal ones if you use your arms to reach for the opposite knee.

I need to keep my hands busy.
Or, I'll probably just end up masturbating
50 or 60 times a day.

Which means you're really really good at it.....
Or really bad at ittongue2

laugh sorry... thedevil made me do it!

So even for that activity you can switch it up... try standing in the shower, sitting or laying down
And don't forget to switch hands:wink: flowers

That is a workout! I finally gave up using a mower when I lived in the mountains the ground was so bad....I used the weed eater on a acre, luckily we had a short summer there.

The knee lift is a great ab exercise, especially for people who have back issues. I'm looking for more ab exercises now, anyone have any favorites?

My woohoo moment.... the 10lb weights are really paying off.... love the definition I'm getting in my arms, back and shoulders ❤

I went out for my daily walkie again, in the sun, sleeves rolled up :)
And I cycled to the chip shop.
