I’m not sure what the question is as they both offer free voice and video calls. The only difference is FaceTime can only be used with Apple devices.

I learned how to use hangouts and whatsapp since I have been on this site.

Ah, thanks for that bit of info. I didn't know. I'd heard of FaceTime, but never from Dutch people. If it's for Apple devices it makes sense as most Dutch ppl do not have those.
I rarely use Skype either btw. Last time I did need something like that it began to be bad, losing connection all the time etc.
Facebook always worked nicely :)

I've used skype a few times.

I talked with a woman in Florida and we watched movies together while screen sharing in skype.
When my son was stationed in Japan we talked and screen shared movies.
I've used it to see my grandchildren who were born in Missouri.

I still have it but never turn it on.
I won't skype with anyone I don't otherwise know in person.
