I fully agree blondie, about simple carbs in the evening.
I was speaking about during the day while your metabolic rate is highest, and your able to burn the most amount of stored fat calories.
in the evening your body is more at rest, as you mentioned high proteins are best at this time cheese has a high fat content, and should be reserved mostly during the day., lean meats, and nuts are better
to help feed muscles as they are at rest and recovering from the days use
even berries should be avoided, vegetables are better. because they generally have less sugars .
I like making cookies using things like fruit oats carrots nuts honey and raw sugar. this not only helps with energy lows, but also adds fiber.
as I mentioned it just depends on how things are made, as to if they are healthy or not.
and everything should be in moderation..
just a couple of comments ... nuts have a high fat content ... portion size is important . Their use became more popular with low carb diets and paleo diets .
.. yes cheese is high in fats (which can vary depending on the type of cheese) . There are lower fat options available . It is a good source of calcium and contains tryptophan (as does milk) which can promote sleep .
Berries are full of heart healthy antioxidants and vitamin c. While the sugar content is higher than vegetables it is not necessary to exclude them from a diet . As you said moderation is key but so is balance .
Fibrous veges offer higher nutritional benefit than starch based veges .
I prefer not to exclude food groups and ensure my diet is high in rainbow foods lol . I gravitate to organic .,local / non processed foods without additives or preservatives . That is more important to me .
Every body has a different metabolic rate and different energy demands . My advice to anyone wanting to lose /gain or maintain weight is to understand how your own body responds , what your metabolic demands are and work from there . Think of nutrition in terms of health and try to avoid unhealthy eating patterns .
Well done with the baking .. I seldom bake . If I do feel like a treat I would likely have a frozen banana or a few spoonfuls of organic Greek yogurt with berries or homemade hummus with raw organic vege sticks :-)
