I call it Shocktober.

Do you watch horror movies during October as Halloween approaches?

Do you have any favorites you always watch?

As I prepare my Shocktober 2021 movie playlist I'm looking for some great horror and monster movies to add which I usually don't watch.
The month culminates with the Halloween movie series but there are other horror movie series which populates the month.

Plus, hosting my forum causes me to list every movie in horror movie series but I only watch select movies from each series.
These sets of movies have the really good ones and some very poorly made ones.
Not all of my Shocktober lists have all sets.
There are many stand alone horror films which are amazingly well-made.
Yes, some complete sets are well-made as well.

This thread is meant to be a watch list for Horror movies for October.
Since I really love MONSTER movies, I suggest a lot of monster movies...I loves me sum monsters!

Years back I belonged to a forum which hosted horror movies and as a mod we did focus forums featuring movies of a particular type.
I did the Monsters & Creatures forum.
There were other forums as well hosted by other site mods.
Our members loved it!

We had forums for:
Slasher Movies
Evil Kids and Doll Movies
Psychological and Psychotic Movies
Classic Horror Movies
Serial Killer & Stalker Movies
Monsters & Creatures Movies (including alien monsters)
Religious Horror Movies (demons, possessions, hauntings, etc...)
Death-Tech Movies (runaway technology and evil machines)
Gore and Banned Movies
Horror Short Films
Family Halloween Movies
Animated Horror Movies

For my current forum, creating these sub-forums is way too much work.
I just post up movies and sets in my horror forums

I'm always on the look out for movies I have not posted.
I will look at all your suggestions and post those which trip my trigger.

This year, I've already posted a few sets.

Here is the Horror Movie Sets Forum.
http://ghostown.freeforums.net/board/41/horror-sets-themes
Many are still placeholders but if it has replies, its usually complete.

The monsters & creatures Set Forum is less populated right now but there are a few which are complete.
Again, 0 replies means its still a placeholder.
http://ghostown.freeforums.net/board/42/monsters-creatures-sets-themes

The actual Horror Movies Forum is completely populated and 0 replies means nothing. There is at least 1 link to a stream for each title listed.
http://ghostown.freeforums.net/board/44/horror-movies

Even if you do not stream movies you can look at the lists to get an idea of movies to watch. Then you can rent or buy or borrow as you want.
Many of these movies are available thru Netflix, Roku and other online rental sites plus many can be rented thru Youtube.

Killer clowns need a forum!

A fun movie!

I read somewhere awhile back they are making another Killer Clowns movie.

The Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1979370/

After 30 years since their last invasion, the clowns once again try to take over earth. The humans must stop them.
Director
Stephen Chiodo
Writers
Charles Chiodo(story), Edward Chiodo(story), Stephen Chiodo(story)
Star
Grant Cramer

Two circus performers who are stranded in the mountain town of Kismet, the new Klowns invade when their car breaks down. The two will have to save the world from the returning Killer Klowns while they are being blamed for what is happening.

Have you seen the movie

Clown (2014)
A little boy's birthday party gets ruined when his entertainment (clown) cancels. His father finds a clown suit and becomes the new entertainment but something is weird about it, there is an evil curse and it won't come off. He specializes in eating little kids... everything after that goes down hill.

Oh, BTW, the movie Gravy (2015) has a cannibal dressed up as a clown.
Also a fun movie!

It's All Hallow's Eve. A trio of costumed misfits with very special dietary requirements seizes a Mexican cantina and force the staff to engage in a late night of gaming, food and libations. The only caveat is what's on the menu.

I love watching horror movies! scared especially the Friday the Thirteenth series....Iโ€™m watching the original one right now! I remember how scared and freaked out I was about The Exorcist when it first came out, I think I was 10. Then there was the original Night of the Living Dead, 1968 in black and white, I was only 5 then so I didnโ€™t get to see it until years, and years later!

So those are a few of my top favorites....happy drinker

And youโ€™re definitely right about the world news on TV being the biggest true horror story of our current time....and itโ€™s only just begun! surprised

I like Hocus Pocus bigsmile

I don't care for the slice and dice scary movies, but there are some horror movies I'll watch. Not by myself though, haha. I usually need an arm to grab hold of and a shoulder to bury my face in, haha.

I recently watched the movie "Ma", that starred Octavia Spencer. That was kind of gruesome.

I find the Exorcist film funny.
The original Night of the Living Dead is an amazing work and I remember my sis when she came home from the theater after seeing it...she was really creeped out!
Friday the 13th like the Halloween series has good ones and bad ones but the originals are the best. Same with A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Additionally, the original Hellraiser and the original Phantasm are the best too.

Some of the friendly movies I posted earlier are pretty good (not slash and gash).
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The House with a Clock in the Walls, Both Goosebumps and Matilda are pretty fun to watch. You might want to give them a try.

Personally I find all religious based horror movies comical.
Some movies are just sick, like Flowers...a film with horrible visuals and terrible violence. If I never watch A Serbian Film again it will be too soon, that was just terrible awful and really sick and twisted.

Like I said, I really like monster and creature movies. The stranger looking the better. I also like scifi alien creature movies.

I know people that just love slasher films but I usually find them really corny. I do like survival horror and test subject horror. I also like most werewolf movies but pass on the vamps and zombies.

Utopia/dystopia horror movies are usually pretty good as well as runaway technology horror.

I rarely watch horror as it's just too much for me. I do have Ghost Ship on DVD, lord knows how it came into my possession, haha.
I kind of like it but I will not watch it when it's dark.

Long time ago I've seen Friday the 13th in theatre. I was 14-15 at the time. It scared the bejesus out of me!!

Apart from that I don't see why October is horror movie month. But I guess it's funny to have a theme month.
To me October is more about warmth, candle light, family, cuddling up. You know, the cosy indoors scene as summer is over, heating is on again, warm colours, scented candles. smooched

Oh and then there's movies on paranormal stuff... for some reason they always appeal to me, but I never watch any anymore. They freak me out on a level that goes beyond scary. Probably because I've always been sensitive to paranormal stuff.
I once watched The Entity...
Took me years to get over! No joke.
Something like Pet Semetary doesn't really scare me a lot. But The Entity... scared scared

Halloween is October 31.
Some of the TV channels I used to watch offered 31 days of Halloween horror movies.
That's where the Shocktober theme came from.
Plus, on that old forum I mentioned earlier, the horror forums were made public on Oct 1st and ended on Oct 31st.

No horror movie actually scares me anymore. Probably because I am more interested in figuring how they did that effect than the horrific images showing. Its also why I like monster and creature movies. The creature design and nature of them is more interesting to me than the horrific nature of the story. But, I'm like that for action movies too.

While I have nearly all of Stephen King's movies I actually don't watch many of those. They seem to be the same thing over and over. There are some that are really good (even after multiple watches) like Cujo.

I find religion based horror movies to be comical. I do watch some of them. Mainly demons and ghosts. I also like haunted and possession movies, they are a lot of fun.

There are only a few Zombie movies I can tolerate anymore. I guess I've seen too many bad ones. I watched Army of the Dead twice but couldn't do a third. I can watch the Zombieland set and Rekill but really gotta be in the mood for them.

Right now, I have a few titles unzipped to watch. Still have many more to add and I've already watched a few.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (2012) b walker
Animal (2014) jl adams

Clown (2014) a powers

What Lies Below (2020) e horvath t iwata d corbo

Z (2019) kc tracy

There are also some very wonderful old B&W horror movies that still got it.
Most of the Dracula, Frankenstein and Dr Jekyll movies are best in black & white. Every once in awhile you get a decent modern version but those still can't compare with the old ones.

Even Syfy and The Asylum sometimes put out a decent horror flick.
House of Bones
Husk
The Hollow

The Hallow is a fair lower budget Irish legend horror movie which was pretty entertaining.

Dog Soldiers is an amazing werewolf movie made on a minimal budget.

Personally, I use my own genre classification for movies.
Movies from any established genre can be horrific to me.
Murder, rape, abduction and stalking, to me, is horrific.

Red Dawn, an action movie about war strikes me as horrific.
Primeval, a crocodile movie strikes me as comical.
Ghost & the Darkness, a lion movie still freaks me out a lil.

Some horror movies I recommend (may not be listed as horror):
Oculus
The Atticus Institute
