MS, the point of the thread was to discuss the never ending violence going on in Chicago because frankly it is startling and many children are being murdered. That was the point of the thread.

But to not discuss the core of the problem is in itself a injustice. To not discuss who is doing it is just looking the other way.

About a year ago there was a thread on the IRA.. and me and some other( pro IRA) Irish guy got into it. I got into it with him because in my opinion ( and I am Irish and I always wanted England out of Ireland) the IRA was a bunch of hooligan terrorists that killed innocent people with bombs in stores. IRA... Irish catholic.. same as me. Many, many Irish people were embarrassed about the actions of their "people".. me included.

There's a lot of meth operations going here in Indiana. One, I know of was raided yesterday morning. This time, however, no meth making equipment was found. Now the man they arrested got out in a couple hours. Nothing to hold him on.

Most of them seem to be in Kosciusko County. That's very rural. Now, once they find an operation, the house in question is torn down. Too many nasty chemicals have found their way into the structure. It's becomes a biohazard, and down it comes. Indiana State Police lobbied to get that law enacted.

Shows how stupid these meth heads are. The house isn't fit to occupy, yet they keep shoving this junk in their bodies.

And regarding the IRA, It was a sore point within the Irish American community.. a very big one, for a very long time. But I would not expect others outside of the Irish community to understand that, as they were not in the community. Point being, we were NOT proud of our OWN people.. for those particular deeds. and many many voiced their displeasure... point blank.....internally.. and externally both in Ireland and here.

Yes, that is stupid of people, however it is also become an addition for Many!

It does seem to happen in Rural areas, out in the County or small communities a few miles away from here.

Police are busting users often,. Not sure what their punishment is. I rarely hear anything on local news after they are arrested .

Definitely get rid of the present "mayor" .

Violence is problematic whether its whites or blacks committing it, or any other race. It is largely correlated to areas of concentrated poverty and desperation, which also happens in all races. I don't feel responsible for what the few of the worst of 'my people' do. I do feel sad that people are so cruel or violent to other people, period.

I feel alot could be done in these areas without targeting individuals on things other than their actual crimes. I think more people who are native in those communities should seek and be employed in positions that require interaction and understanding of the conditions there, who can deal with people as human beings. I think more people trusting police would be a start to more people assisting police in capturing individuals causing violence and death to spread to the kids, either by being victims or indoctrinated participants. I think it doesnt matter what political label or race is slapped on the individuals harming or the individuals helping, good people will be good under every political umbrella, and scared coerced people will feel scared and coerced under every political umbrella, and implicit biases with affect the decisions of all of the above, unfortunately.

I want to see better futures for those kids, no doubt. I want them to know they are more than what media and politicians portray them as and that they are young enough to still grow and become better people. I want them to have mentors and experiences outside of the limited existence that concentrated poverty traps them in and the limited identity they learn to accept as a result.

I am without a doubt that the numbers will fall again, as they always have. I just hope we find better ways to keep them down.

Meth is a big problem here as well. It is mostly controlled by the motorcycle gangs ( 1%ers). The original founding President of the Pagan motorcycle gang was actually a chemist and it was he who introduced the drug to his gang, who then made and distributed it.. it took off from there to other motorcycle gangs. They make it in rural areas, farmhouses and barns

The most disturbing thing about meth is what it does to the person taking in... totally controls them.. they look like zombies, you can see it a block away...highly addictive... terrible stuff.

Chicago's violence problem is a direct result of the gang problem there, which is the highest ( in member numbers) then ANY other metro area in the U.S. Some of them ( gangs) going back to 1950, meaning they are well established, very organized and certainly have the fire power.

They already have enough guns to last them for 10 -15 years, so what it a new law going to actually do?

New gun laws or any laws will not stop the senseless blood shed in Chicago and abroad.

Only the change of heart and renewing of the mind in a Godly aspect will bring forth actual real positive continual change .
